Dear athletes, teams, members and sports fans,

Welcome to the 2019 International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) Goalball and Judo International Qualifier in the wonderful city of Fort Wayne!

We, alongside the United States Association of Blind Athletes (USABA), the Turnstone Center, the Grand Wayne Convention Center and Indiana Tech, have a great week of competition lined-up for you.

More than 600 athletes from 40 countries, including the home teams, have made the journey to Fort Wayne in the hope of securing spots or qualification points for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

We expect the competition to be fierce and exciting and I hope that you are entertained and inspired over the coming days by the incredible competitors.

On behalf of IBSA, I would like to thank USABA, the venues, the volunteers and the Fort Wayne 2019 partners for their support in bringing together what I am sure will be an excellent event.

Whether you are experiencing goalball and judo for the first time here or are a seasoned fan, I hope you enjoy your time and that we can count on you to support all the athletes in their quest for greatness.

Good luck to everyone competing this week!

What traffic jam?Sure, you might encounter a few ducks on the

water at an Indiana State Park, but they’ll get right

out of your way. And if you feel like pulling over

to park at the shore, there’s no meter. Take all the

time you want. Time to hike. Time to unwind. Time

to reflect. Or time to let out a big “Woohoo” and

hear it echo across a canyon. However you like

to experience the great outdoors, it’s always a

getaway worth sharing.

While you’re in town, get out and explore Fort Wayne’s numerous attractions, activities, and dining opportunities.

If you’re looking to enjoy all of Fort Wayne’s local flavors, pull up a seat at one of our favorite restaurants, including local favorites like 816 Pint & Slice, Cindy’s Diner, and Coney Island. For a nice meal out, book a reservation at Club Soda, Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, Tolon, or Copper Spoon. No matter your interests, there are plenty of options for dining in the City of Restaurants.

In downtown Fort Wayne, you can discover numerous arts and entertainment venues including the historic Embassy Theatre and the Fort Wayne Museum of Art; test your imagination (and the rules of gravity!) at our hands-on science center; wander through lush indoor gardens at the Botanical Conservatory; or hop on the downtown Rivergreenway trail to discover Fort Wayne’s three rivers

Indiana’s second largest city is excited to welcome the athletes, coaches and delegates

of the 2019 IBSA Goalball & Judo International Qualifier for two weeks of elite level competition

and enjoyment of our diverse arts, culture, dining and entertainment.
