Introduction

You have to do more than just toss stuff in a blender. You have to eat theright foods if you want to burn fat.

These juice smoothies will do just that for you. Why?

1. The Thermic Effect of Foods - All the foods we eat require energy to bebroken down and absorbed in the body. The “thermic effect” for protein is abouttwice as high as it is for carbohydrates or fats. A higher protein intake meansincreased muscle-building, metabolic rate and fat burning.

2. Eating protein increases Glucagon – Glucagon is a hormone thatcounteracts the effects of insulin in fat tissue. While insulin can stop the body’sability to burn fat and instead tell it to store fat, glucagon produces the oppositeeffect, which means more fat burning.

Glucagon is responsible for decreasing the body’s ability to make and store fat infat cells and in the liver. This means more fat burning and less fat storage.

3. Eat fiber (veggies, fruits, etc.) for carbs. When you eat fiber for carbs, youare basically eating foods with little or no calories because it takes more energyto digest these foods than the actual calories in fiber.

4. Fats. Don’t worry, you will be eating mainly heart-healthy fats such as coconutoil, avocado, nuts and olive oil.

These are my favorite juice smoothies that I can eat any time of day andthey work as full meals or snacks. Enjoy!

I will many times eat something like this for breakfast (with brewed green tea) toget my day started full of energy (especially if I’m in a rush).

Ingredients:

1/2 bowl – kale 3 strawberries 12 - raw almonds 12 – cherries 12 – blueberries 3 Tb – flaxseed Serves 1
