SQUAD GUIDELINES

Sideline squads of a maximum of 20 girls will be selected for each grade level according to tryout scores

Competition Team will be comprised of top scores from 6th-8th graders (selected from cheerleaders whose parent indicated their daughter was interested in both sideline and competition when they registered). Competition Team will have 20 members; only 16 perform at competitions

Results will be posted on www.hoochcheer.com

PURPOSE OF THE JR COUGAR CHEER PROGRAM

To support the football players, coaches and families by creating a spirited atmosphere and positive community during the football season.

Develop cheerleader athletes who compete in the competitive cheer arena, should they choose.

Prepare our cheerleaders for High School Cheer.

EXPECTATIONSCheerleaders should expect to:

Work hard throughout the season, make new friends and have fun!!

Be present at camps, practices and games

Arrive on time and in the appropriate attire

Cooperate with and respect coaches, teammates and all other volunteers

Learn the rules of football!

TRYOUTS – 6TH-8TH ONLY

3rd, 4th and 5th grades will not need to try out for sideline cheer

Try-outs for all 6th-8th graders registered for sideline/competition will be held March 31st and April 1st at CHS in the Auxiliary Gym.

Formal tryouts are held in small groups

Participants will perform a cheer, chant, and jump sequence

Assessments will include skills, attendance, attitude and sportsmanship

**PLEASE NOTE: Cheerleaders must have already registered and paid online or they will not be allowed to try out;

All 3 forms must also be submitted to participate: Cheer Contract, Concussion Form, Medical Release

UNIFORMS

All grade levels use the same uniform pieces

An online resale will be held (current 8th grade level uniforms, pieces that no longer fit other cheerleaders/not returning to cheer); items are normally sold at 50% of the original cost

Uniform fittings for any cheerleaders needing new items will be scheduled and communicated when finalized

SUMMER CAMPS

6th-8th Grade Competition Team CampStingray Allstars;

June 15-16 from 9 am – 4 pm

6th-8th grade Halftime Routine Camp Stingray Allstars;

July 24-25 from 9am – 3pm

Cougar Cheer Camp (3rd-8th grades) at CHS;

July 27-30 from 9am -1pm

PRACTICE SCHEDULE

Cougar to Cougar Cheer Practice: Practices to learn cheers will begin the first week of school and will be held on Sunday afternoons.

Halftime Practice: Practices to work on halftime routines will begin August 11th – the first week of school

3rd, 4th and 5th grade: Tuesdays from 3:30 – 5:00 pm6th, 7th and 8th grade: Wednesdays from 4:30 - 6:00 pm

Competition Team Practice: If selected, Spring Training will be held from April 14 – May 14, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 4:30 - 6:00 pm

Fall Practices start on August 11 and are on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:00 – 6:30 pm

FALL FOOTBALL GAMES

Attendance at all games is mandatory

A parent/guardian or designated representative must be at the game with your cheerleader in case of an emergency – they can not be unchaperoned

Games are on Saturdays beginning in late August through October

Game Times will be determined by Jr Cougar Football and posted to their web site. Times are always subject to change

3rd – 5th will normally be in the mornings6th - 3:30 pm7th - 5:30 pm8th - 7:30 pm

ONLINE REGISTRATION Registration is currently open and will continue through tryouts or until 20 cheerleaders have registered per grade.

Log on to www.hoochcheer.com to register and pay the $420 program fee.

Don’t forget to turn in the 3 forms (Contract, Concussion, Medical Release)!

SIDELINE FEES

3rd – 5th Registration/Program Fee: $285 Includes: T-shirt, Cheer Camp at CHS, end of season banquet, gift

and other activities

6th-8th Registration/Program Fee: $420 Includes: T-shirt, Cheer camp at CHS, Halftime camp at Stingrays,

end of season banquet, gift and other activities

Uniform: $250 (approx.) for new cheerleaders in 4th-8th grade; 3rd grade will be about $100

Includes all uniform pieces except white no show socks and white shoes

Stingrays Practice Fees for 3rd-8th Grade: $45 per month

The once a week sideline practice fee is paid directly to Stingrays each month in August, September and October

FUND RAISING/CHEER BILL REDUCTION Auto Bell Car Wash Ticket Sale

Sell 10 $80 is refunded to you from your total cheer bill

Each Ticket is Sold for $16.00

Each Ticket costs $8.00

COMPETITION SQUAD SCHEDULE

Competitions are on Saturdays/Sundays in September and October

About 4-6 Competitions

COMPETITION FEES

Program Fee: Additional $300 on top of sideline fee

Choreography camp, uniform rental, preseason training, competition entrance fee, banquet, gifts

Uniform Deposit: $150 Refundable check upon return of uniform

Stingrays Fees: $80 per month In addition to sideline cheer practice fee of $45, there is

an $80/month fee for the two competition practices for August, September and October
