Florida Landscape - Gainesvi l le, FL25,000 ft2 Boathouse
!is Florida landscape project presented two main challenges: addressing the direct adjacency of the building to water, as well as the overall scale. !e strict choreographed movements on land and water that are characteristic to rowing teams helped guide the interaction between the building and the river. !e two buildings on the site divide the team boats and the single rider boats, as well as other programmatic elements.

!e Sarasota school of architectural thinking established its position in the mid 1900s, when architects designed with principles and ideas that were rooted in the spirit of Florida. Local materials, modular construction, natural ventilation, and meticulous attention to site conditions were just a few of those principles. !is house was developed using those same principles as guidelines for its design, uncovering worthwhile design influences along the way.

Orlando, FL - Bridge Distr ict250,000 ft2 Mixed Use
!e Bridge District is a four-block area in downtown Orlando that is dominated by one of Florida’s main interstates - Interstate 4 (I-4). I-4 splits Orlando’s downtown district in half, both demographically and economically. A historic business district sits to the east, and a historic neighborhood to the west. In order to help generate a convergence of the two communities within the bridge district, the site for a new basketball arena was selected just west of I-4. !is mixed-use facility project was a conceptual addition to the existing arena plans - its purpose was to propose ideas that would aid in further integration of the east and west portions of downtown Orlando’s business and residential districts.

_House #17 of 23 unbuilt houses designed by Guy Peterson for a small neighborhood in Sarasota. Model was built using original hand-drafted floor plans and elevations.

Materials & MethodsReading Room - Gainesvi l le, FL
_Produced construction drawings for a team designed reading room. Research topics in the project included all of the products and techniques associated with the construction, as well as all applicable Florida building codes.
Creating a contemporary piece of architecture within the historic city of Venice requires a delicate navigation of several factors, one of the most important being how a project is contextually linked to its historical surroundings. Venice is well known for its shipbuilding industry, dating back to the start of the city’s existence. !e type and scale of boat produced in Venice is greatly varied, however, the city’s daily workings are still intrinsically linked to the small maneuverable wooden boats. !is workshop is devoted to the act of repairing these small wooden boats, while the placement of circulation through the site allows for an unconventional public view of this job and its related processes. Overall function and construction technique conceptually bind the workshop, site, and city. !e material variation mimics the layering of structure and skin present within the actual boats. A primary structural system sets the major rhythm while also providing support for a secondary permeable skin.

I-4 corridor as it relates to orange county
central business district CBD the bridge district of I-4 is situated in the middle of four important historic and cultural zones. I-4 itself becomes the divisional element between the CBD and the par-ramore area. most of orlando’s municipal and large busi-ness activities take place within the central business dis-trct, while the parramore area continues to struggle with its transition. developent within the CBD has risen steadily since 2000, with most of the expansion coming from the residential sector. with more than 4,000 residential units in the construction or planning phase, transportation is a major issue. managing the flow of people coming into the CBD will now be complicated by the need to provide, CBD inhabitants, an efficient exit of the city center to jobs elsewhere.

congestion in orlando i-4 has been orlando and central florida’s main artery since the 60’s. due to central florida’s rapid growth a number of expansions to the i-4 corridor have been completed. in a 2007 national traffic congestion survey orlando ranked 8th in amount of congestion hours per driver. each driver can expect to be de-layed by congestion, an estimated 53 hours annually. this congestion wastes 35 gallons of gas a year per driver.
