APRIL EMPHASIS: GLOBAL AWARENESS
E ducation and Awareness is the key to our understanding the needs of the world and
what the Church of the Nazarene is doing to meet those needs. When informed, we are more likely to respond through prayer, giving, and involvement. The Mission Education di-vision of NMI brings to us the knowledge we need. Are we doing our part to be informed so we can respond from a heart of love?

The past year has been one of blessing and trust here at Potter's House. We feel
blessed by the harvest God has shown us at the university, but also constantly feel
our reliance on Him. Fall semester saw another increase in the number of students
coming into the coffee shop, to about 700-800 per week. During both semesters
our small groups and bible studies have been encouraging and fruitful. We have
felt God working in the lives of many of our students, and have seen many grow-
ing in their faith. Steve and Berna have especially felt compelled to continue their ministry to young people in the form
of marriage and relationship counseling in which some wonderful things are happening. Here are some of the most excit-
ing things from the past year!
- Berna currently has a women's group called, "The Life Ready Woman", that nearly 30 girls are attending each week.
The group grew so much early on that she had to create new times for it to accommodate all the students!
- Steve is meeting with 8 young married men every week at 6:45am on Tuesdays in the second half of the "Authentic
Manhood" study to encourage them to be Godly husbands. The meeting time is definitely teaching about commitment!
- We seen an increase in the number of international students be part of the Potter's House, from volunteering in the
kitchen to joining groups. Moon and Hal have 5 Chinese students in a bible study on Friday nights, and a number of Ko-
rean and Arabian students are volunteering in various ways.
- God is not just using us to bless the students, but the other way around as well. We were voted the #1 coffee shop in
Springfield by the MSU Standard last year! All our kitchen staff are doing an amazing job of making Potter's the place
that students feel loved and want to be!
