My Story Starts

Me and my family moved here for

cheap land and to start over. Also

Stephen Austin gave us 3 years to

pay off our land.

What a good man

This is our first home we built on Austin’s land.

Page 3: Jones a 1

My story starts

Our family traveled from the East

which took a long time. But it was

worth it because we received 1200

acres of land!!! What a bargain!!!!

This is our families buggy which we used to travel to Austin’s Colony.

1822

This is the first year invested and

bought 650.00$ worth of crops

because there was a large need for

lumber. Along with that we also had

a harsh winter. This is my husband at the lumber mill where he works.

1822

Also in this year many cattle died and

the Lively was late arriving so we

used our recourses wisely. But luckily

Stephen Austin’s plan allowed us

some extra money to keep things

going

This is our 1200 acres and some of the cattle that survived.

1823

1823 was a good year. The only thing

was that the Lively ended up

sinking . And there was a dispute

with the Mexicans which caused an

over export of cotton. That was the

damper on things.

Page 7: Jones a 1

1823

Some of the good things this year was

that we got $1200 for cattle!!!!!! We

also had a mild winter along with a

small demand for lumber!!! A

wonderful year for lumber!!!!

This is our mild winter down by our creek

Page 8: Jones a 1

1824

This year our colony thrived a little.

Also there was a high demand for

lumber so there was A LOT of

building!!!!!! But there wasn’t that

many Indian attacks

This is one of the only Indian attacks on our village.

Page 9: Jones a 1

1824We also had a bumper cotton crop

which is a very spectacular crop for

this year. And a high demand for

beef so that took out a little chunk of

our money but that doesn’t matter

because we have Austin’s plan! This is one of our cotton plants ready for harvest.

Closure

We where very successful the past

three years and are very happy about

our progress. Our only major downers

where the Indian attacks, harsh

winters, and the Lively sinking.

But other than that th

ey where good

years. :D

Page 11: Jones a 1

ClosureI think our family will stay in Austin’s
