June, 2016 Volume 18 , Number 10
From the Principal
Jonathan Law High School is a community that exists to maximize the intellectual, the social, and the emotional growth of each student in a safe, stable, supportive environment.
June 1, 2016 Dear Friends: It is so hard to believe that our school year is almost over! We have had an unforgettable year at Jonathan Law and, as always, it’s due to the hard work and dedication of our staff and students. There are many activities happening over the next two weeks, none more important than our graduation, senior activities and exam schedules. Our schedule for exams is in the pages of this newsletter and I ask you to please stress to your children the importance of being prepared for their exams and being on time to their exams. Also, please remind your students that all school rules are still in effect and that our last school day for students is Friday, June 10th (which will be a half-day). To Our Senior Parents: Thank you for allowing your children to be part of the Jonathan Law family. They have been a pleasure to get to know and I wish them all the best. I wish you all a safe and happy summer! Sincerely,

“Under the bubbling hot springs and geysers of Yel-lowstone National Park is a supervolcano. Most peo-ple don't know it's there. The caldera is so large that it can only be seen from a plane or satellite. It just could be overdue for an eruption, which would change the landscape and climate of our planet.
For Alex, being left alone for the weekend means having the freedom to play computer games and hang out with his friends without hassle from his mother. Then the Yellowstone supervolcano erupts, plunging his hometown into a nightmare of darkness, ash, and violence. Alex begins a harrowing trek to search for his family and finds help in Darla, a travel partner he meets along the way. Together they must find the strength and skills to survive and outlast an epic disaster.” —Book description

Milford Fencing
Club
The Milford High School Fencing Team held its final tournament
of the year at Jonathan Law High School, wrapping up a banner
third season of statewide competition. After 21 hard-fought bouts,
the women’s championship was won by Law senior Madisyn
Rauscher, followed by Law sophomore Kavitha Mohanarajan
taking the silver medal, and Foran sophomore Arshia Puri winning
the bronze. In the men’s division, Junior Andrew Hiza narrowly
defeated Foran freshman Ben Kissinger to take the men’s 2016
championship for the third consecutive year, with Kissinger taking
the silver and Foran sophomore Matteo Menta taking the bronze.
Kissinger also won the overall epee title, and Hiza placed first in
men’s sabre. Coach Mark Kissinger congratulated every team
member for displaying the highest levels of sportsmanship all
season, and is already looking forward to building on the team’s
success next season.
Looking for a few good Children
The Child Development program at Jonathan Law High School is looking for preschool-aged
children for our program for the 2016-2017 school year. These children should be three or four
years of age, live within the Milford school district, and are required to be fully potty trained.
Our program meets two mornings per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, usually between the
hours of 7:20 and 10:20. The high school students who are in the Child Development courses
work with the children as they play and interact with their peers.
We like to think of our class as an enrichment experience for children. Although not a
traditional preschool program, we incorporate arts and crafts as well as other learning centers
where children can work on physical, intellectual, emotional, social and moral development.
They learn appropriate ways to resolve problems and interact in socially acceptable ways with
their peers.
For further information and to enroll your child for this fall, please contact Ms. McCoy at
203-783-3574 ext. 6571 or email [email protected]. We currently have spots available on
a first-come, first served basis. Give us a call today!
And did I mention the best part? It’s FREE!
