HOW DO I CONTACT THE SCHOOL? Please go to our website www.joffreyballetschool.com and click on the EMAIL US link on the right hand side of the page. Fill out the email us form and submit it. The school will contact you shortly with a response by phone or email. AUDITION QUESTIONS (ARTICLE 1) What is an audition? ANSWER: A 90 minute class instructed by a Joffrey Ballet School instructor. My Child is 9 years old can she attend the Audition? ANSWER: Yes, please have her audition I was in the program last year, do I need to audition again? ANSWER: Yes, for placement and scholarship purposes. WHERE SHOULD I AUDITION FOR A SPECIFIC PROGRAM? ANSWER: You may audition for all Ballet program at our ballet auditions and all Jazz Intensives at our Jazz auditions. If a program has both Ballet & Jazz you may audition at either a ballet or jazz audition WHEN DO I RECEIVE MY AUDITION RESULTS? ANSWER: Within two weeks of the audition, they will be emailed and mailed to you. MY CHILD WANTS TO ATTEND LA and/or Miami, SHOULD SHE ATTEND A BALLET OR A JAZZ AUDITION? ANSWER: Either the Ballet or Jazz audition will work for the LA and MIAMI Program MY CHILD IS NOT ON POINTE WHICH PROGRAM WOULD BE GREAT FOR THEM? ANSWER: The Young Dancer Program, Joffrey South Young Dancer Program CAN I SUBMIT A DVD AUDITION? ANSWER:YES, please submit an online digital audition at http://joffreyballetschool.com/digital-­‐audition.html All requirements are listed on our website at the above page. If you want to attend both our ballet and jazz intensives please submit a digital audition for both disciplines. If you want to attend Miami or LA, you just need to submit either the ballet or jazz discipline. Submit what you are strongest in. SHOULD I PRE-REGISTER OR JUST WALK-IN? MY CHILD IS 14 or 15 YEARS OF AGE SHOULD SHE AUDITION IN THE YOUNGER OR OLDER AGE GROUP? ANSWER: The Younger Age Group as the dancer will stand out more. MY CHILD HAS DONE X YEARS OF STUDY WHICH PROGRAM IS RIGHT FOR HER? ANSWER: Have your child audition and the results will answer the question. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE AUDITIONS ARE VERY DIFFICULT AND I AM SETTING UP MY CHILD FOR FAILURE. ANSWER: The audition is a nurturing environment. We have beginner levels through elite levels. The dancer will most likely be accepted into a level in one of the programs. HOW MANY YEARS OF DANCE TRAINING DO I NEED IN ORDER TO AUDITION? ANSWER: At least one year of training for the beginner level Young Dancer Program. IS POINTE REQUIRED FOR THE AUDITION? ANSWER: NO

MASTER CLASS QUESTIONS (ARTICLE 2) WHAT IS A MASTER CLASS? ANSWER: A Class instructed by a Celebrity Instructor and we audition the dancer for the summer programs as well. WHERE CAN I FIND THE MASTER CLASSES? All of our auditions are performed by Master Instructors. SCHOLARSHIP QUESTIONS (ARTICLE 3) DO YOU AWARD SCHOLARSHIPS DURING THE AUDITIONS? ANSWER: Yes, we award over $1,000,000.00 in scholarships each summer. DO DANCERS AUDITION FOR BOTH JAZZ & BALLET? ANSWER: ALL OF THE TIME, PLEASE REGISTER ONLINE DOES THE DANCER RECEIVE THEIR AUDITION SCORE? ANSWER: No, just the programs they are accepted into. To Which Programs does the MERIT Scholarship Apply? ANSWER: All of the programs except the Georgia, Pre-Professional, Bolshoi & Florence programs Does the Merit Scholarship Apply to all fees? ANSWER: TUITION ONLY Do I have to register by the deadline in order for the scholarship to apply? ANSWER: YES Do I have to reside in housing in order for scholarships to apply? Can exceptions be made? ANSWER: Only in NYC ANSWER: Yes, please email us your individual case. Do we offer need based aid? To which programs? ANSWER: Yes, we offer tuition assistance for our NYC, LA, Dallas, Denver, Mia Michaels Experience & San Francisco program. Please email us for more information and an application When Will DanceMedia Announce their scholarships? ANSWER: By the 15th of each month, February, March and April 15th. Are the scholarship email notifications for the auditions or DanceMedia? ANSWER: Auditions; we will announce DanceMedia separately. Does the scholarship apply to the Trainee Program? ANSWER: NO, we will review the trainee upon submission of the aid/merit application. Please email us if you are interested in the trainee program.

FEES & BALANCE DUE DATE QUESTIONS (ARTICLE 4) How much is due upon Registration? FEES Registration Fee: $99.00 Tuition Minimum Payment: $300.00 Housing Minimum Payment (If in housing): $250.00 Resident or Chaperone Fee (If in housing): $125.00/$250.00 MEAL PLAN: $225.00 per week (if having meals), 50% upon registering AIRPORT FEE: $125.00 to $150.00 (if having this service) each way DUE IN FULL PERFORMANCE FEE: $75.00 DUE IN FULL (if in performance session) ONLINE REGISTRATION FEE: 2.5% of total purchase 50% DUE UPON REGISTERING Can I get an extension on my registration deadline? ANSWER: Yes, please email us with your request. When are the other balances due? ANSWER: APRIL 1ST, 2014 DEADLINE HOUSING BALANCE DUE IN FULL- Credit Card on file will be automatically charged MAY 1ST, 2014 DEADLINE TUITION & ALL OTHER BALANCES DUE IN FULL- Credit Card on file will be automatically charged How will the balances be charged? ANSWER: The credit card on file will be charged. How can I go on a payment plan? ANSWER: Yes, please email us to set up a payment plan. Please email us at least 1 week prior to the 1st due date in order to provide enough processing time and eliminate the possibility that your credit card will be charged. What is your refund policy? ANSWER: ALL SALES ARE FINAL. Once you register for the program you are liable for the full costs of the program regardless of the circumstances of your withdrawal. What if my child becomes ill or injured? ANSWER: We will provide a tuition credit for the following year; tuition credit only. Please email us if the dancer is unable to attend. We will require a doctor’s note for verification. What happens on the 4th of July? ANSWER: There are no classes. Students who are staying in our dormitories have organized activities to participate in during the day.

ANSWER: Please check the results calendar first at http://joffreyballetschool.com/auditions.html   If the deadline has passed and you have not received your results email us and we will email the results within 24-48 hours. What does the acceptance letter state? ANSWER: Acceptance results are sent by Email & by Snail Mail. The results are the same and both contain the same information. It will include your acceptance results and other information on registering for the program. I did not get my letter in the mail, what should I do? ANSWER: The letter is identical to the acceptance email. You are not missing anything if you have received your email. My Letter results were different than my email results, which is correct? ANSWER: The email has the correct results. My child is younger/older than the program guidelines, do you make exceptions? ANSWER: We frequently make exceptions as many dancers are talented beyond their years. Email us your request. My Child did not get accepted into the program of their choice, can they be reconsidered? ANSWER: We do make exceptions, Email us your request and we will consider each instance on a case-by-case basis. I received results for only half of my auditions, what should I do? ANSWER: There is an internal error, we will correct the issue, please email us and we will resend the correct results.

How much is the online registration fee vs the paper registration fee? ANSWER: ONLINE FEE: $99, THERE IS NO LONGER A PAPER REGISTRATION. Can I add additional weeks to my account after I have registered? ANSWER: Yes, however the program fills quickly. Email us your request and we can add additional weeks to your account. Can I register for half a session or combine sessions? ANSWER: YES, however these have a limited availability, email us your request. Can I reduce session weeks once I have already registered? ANSWER: NO Can I change my session dates after I have registered? ANSWER: Yes, please email us with the necessary changes. Can I get back into my account to make a payment? ANSWER: YES. Please remember the username and password that is sent to you when you receive your acceptance. They can be used to log back into your account and make a payment. ORIENTATION (ARTICLE 8) When is orientation? (for both dorm and non-housing students) ANSWER: See the respective webpage and or housing handbook for dorm orientation. Class orientation times will be sent to you. They differ depending on program. All orientation information will be included in the handbook. If a change is made you will receive an email notification MEDICAL FORMS (ARTICLE 9) Do you provide the form for a physical? ANSWER: No, we simply require a note stating the dancer is in good health from the doctor. When is the deadline for submitting the Doctor's note and where do I send it? ANSWER: 5 days prior to the start of the dancers session. Please email the form or fax it to 646-786-4893 UNIFORMS (ARTICLE 10) Is there a uniform/dress code for class? ANSWER: There is a dress code per program. Refer to the program webpage. Where Do I purchase the Uniforms? ANSWER: The New Company will be announced. The Joffrey Ballet School will no longer be using American Dance Apparel. They will be available by March 1st, 2014

LEVEL ASSIGNMENTS (ARTICLE 11) Do you provide level assignments? ANSWER: Level Assignments are sent out 2 weeks prior to the start of the intensive for the NYC Ballet & Jazz Intensives, San Francisco and the Miami Intensive. Students in the LA, Dallas & Joffrey South will have a placement class on their first day and will then be assigned a level. Students in NYC Young Dancer will receive their assignment on their first day. How many levels do you have in your program? ANSWER: It varies depending upon enrollment and the students’ talent levels. DETAILED ARTISTIC QUESTIONS (ARTICLE 12) PLEASE EMAIL US and the question will be sent to the program director for the specific program you are requesting information on. CLASS SIZES (ARTICLE 13) What are the class sizes? ANSWER: That is program dependent, please refer to program specific webpage FACULTY (ARTICLE 14) When will the faculty be released? ANSWER: The end of April. 90% of the faculty is in place. We post the faculty when the process has been finalized. SUMMER ACTIVITIES (ARTICLE 15) When will the summer activities be posted online? ANSWER: MARCH Do all intensives offer summer activities? ANSWER: Yes, Our NYC & LA intensives have summer activities that can be purchased in advance. Our other intensives have activities that students can sign up for once they arrive at the program. How can I register for summer activities? CHAPERONE/RA (ARTICLE 16) How do I apply to be a Chaperone/RA? ANSWER: Download the associated program information packet and submit the application via email http://joffreyballetschool.com/employment-opportunities.html SCHEDULE, NYC STUDIO FACILITIES & CLASS TIMES (ARTICLE 17) When will we get the schedule of classes? ANSWER: Schedules are posted online the Sunday prior to the start of the program. They are posted on each program page on our website. Students are also given their schedules at the dormitory orientation if they are in housing. If they are not in housing they will receive their schedule at orientation on Monday. What time do the classes run? ANSWER: Each program is different, refer to the respective program webpage. Please know that the time listed is an estimate and the schedule may not be exactly the same. If the dancer is commuting please keep this in mind when planning. Also please keep in mind that if students are commuting together they may not have the same schedule and also may be in different studios. Are all classes in NYC held at Joffrey? ANSWER: We have classes at the Joffrey Ballet School and Pearl Studios in NYC. Do many students commute? ANSWER: 10%-20% commute each year. What time can they arrive at the school? ANSWER: Each program is different, refer to the respective program webpage. MEALS IN NYC (ARTICLE 18) Is there a meal plan available in NYC? ANSWER: YES, Students are able to opt out of the meal plan during registration. If you do not want the meal plan please do not select it during the registration process. Students can add the meal plan after they have registered. You can not remove the meal plan once you have registered for it. Is the meal plan only available at Pace Housing? ANSWER: The meal plan is for all students in housing at both locations.

How do the Grove St. students get to the cafeteria? ANSWER: The food is delivered to the dancers daily. What do students do at lunchtime? ANSWER: Dancers eat, socialize and meet other dancers. Student must provide their own lunch, it is not included in the meal plan SUMMER HOUSING (ARTICLE 19) Can I request a specific dorm? ANSWER: YES, but it is a request and not a guarantee Are the dormitory rooms air-conditioned? ANSWER: YES Can I request a roommate? ANSWER: YES, but it is a request and not a guarantee What does my child need to bring with them? Do you have a checklist? ANSWER: See the associated program housing handbook Can we ship packages (primarily for housing) ahead of time? ANSWER: See the associated program housing handbook Do I have to stay in housing? ANSWER: No Can I register without housing? ANSWER: YES Can I add housing to my account after I register? ANSWER: YES When do I receive my dormitory assignment? ANSWER: Your housing assignment will be emailed to you two weeks prior to your arrival in New York Intensive Versus Performance Track (ARTICLE 20) What is the difference between the intensive Track and the Performance Track? ANSWER: Higher level dancers are placed in the Performance Track. The Performance Track has a performance at the end of the session. The intensive Track has the same high level of instruction, but there is no performance involved. Performance Track and Intensive Track students do not have classes together. Performance track students have an average of 2 classes per day and the remainder of the day is made up of rehearsal time. Intensive track students have an average of 4 classes per day.

My daughter would like to be in the PERFORMANCE TRACK, can she be reconsidered? ANSWER: Yes, email us your request and based upon the audition notes we can make an educated decision. Generally, Students have to be 14 years of age to be in the Performance Track and they must have 2 years of pointe YOUNG DANCER PROGRAM (ARTICLE 21) What is the difference between the Young Dancer Summer Program and the Ballet Intensive? ANSWER: The Young Dancer Program is geared toward dancers that are just learning pointe and or are pre-pointe for less than three years. It is designed for students 13 and younger. AIRPORT PICK-UP & DROP-OFF (ARTICLE 22) Can I add airport pick-up/drop-off after I register? ANSWER: Yes, anytime Is a Joffrey escort or chaperone available for the airport pick-up/drop-off? ANSWER: NO What is the cancellation/refund policy for the airport services? What happens if my flight is late? ANSWER: ALL SALES ARE FINAL Do I have to tip the driver? ANSWER: NO How much does it cost if you arrive or depart at Newark airport? ANSWER: $150.00 JFK OR LAGUARDIA? ANSWER: $125.00 Can the car service drop me off or pick me up at a location other than the dormitory? ANSWER: NO TRANSPORTATION IN NYC (ARTICLE 23)

Will my child need a Metro card? ANSWER: The dancer needs a Metrocard regardless of his/her assigned dormitory location. There are multiple studio locations across Manhattan where all levels attend class. How do the dancers get to the other studio location? ANSWER: Dancers 14 and older go to the studios in groups with other dancers. Dancers 12-13 years of age travel with chaperones. Is there a chaperone/escort for commuter students as well? ANSWER: NO

Registration   for   the   2013/2014   school   year   does   not   open   until   January   2014.  We   are  happy  to  answer  all  questions  prior  to  that  date,  but  online  registration  and  paper  forms  will  not  be  available.  

What is the deadline to register? ANSWER: There is no deadline to register however the program fills quickly.
