SAN FRANCISCO- January 28 – JobScout, (www.myjobscout.org), the web and mobile application designed to get users back to work by providing essential job seeking tools, will announce tomorrow the release of an iOS application downloadable from the iTunes App Store JobScout aims to combat unemployment through digital literacy. The web application launched last year with funding from the California State Library and as part of the iCalifornia digital literacy campaign. California’s Acting Deputy State Librarian Jarrid Keller, the California Technology Agency’s Assistant Secretary of Broadband and Digital Literacy Adelina Zendejas and San Francisco’s Chief Innovation Officer Jay Nath will join the JobScout team for their launch. Each of the representatives will be speaking at the event. JobScout’s CEO Christina Gagnier and Lead Designgineer Carter Fort will demo the JobScout iOS application following the speakers. Through the mobile app, JobScout hopes to bring the power of their platform into the hands of those who may not have easy access to a computer. Further, the app will make it easier for young Millennials to learn resume building and other job seeking skills. Millennial unemployment figures currently hover around 25%. Features of the JobScout iOS app include:

• Lessons on using the Internet for job opportunities; • Gamified platform where users can earn badges for completed lessons; • “One Stop Job Shop” lets users search for openings, save listings, apply and track your

progress with interview dates and times; • ResumeBuilder, a fill-in-the-blank resume system; • One button submission process with pre-formatted cover letters; and • Out-of-the-box ideas for earning money through micro-entrepreneurship through

TaskRabbit, Etsy and other innovative work ideas.

JobScout is a cost-effective, self-guided solution for users who want to make the job search process more effective and efficient. JobScout also offers white-label solutions for institutions that want to provide job search and education resources to their community. JobScout’s iOS launch event will take place at the San Francisco Public Library in the Latino/Hispanic Meeting Room, Main Library, Lower Level on January 29, 2013, 3:00 – 4:30 p.m. Committed to getting the web and mobile application into the hands of San Francisco residents, on-site training will be provided by the JobScout team pre-event for those who need assistance in learning how to use JobScout.
