A MESSAGE FROM THE VICE-CHANCELLOR

Sitting as we do in the heart of West London, we have taken advantage of our location by positioning ourselves as the career university. Our goal is to balance a traditional commitment to education as a public good with a brand promise that sees employability as our primary purpose.

Our success has been underpinned by dynamic growth following a £120 million investment in our two campuses. This combined with a mission to raise aspiration through the pursuit of excellence has resulted in a spectacular rise in various rankings. This year, our NSS was the best in London and the 5th highest rise in the UK. The University was also the highest mover in the Times/Sunday Times League Table jumping an unprecedented 65 places in two years to 56th making UWL the 11th ranked multi-mission university in London. Our financial performance for 2016-17 was also in the top quintile with a 10 % surplus.

Parallel to this focus on teaching excellence we have invested in our research infrastructure to drive forward key areas for REF 2021.

We are therefore seeking outstanding individuals with intellectual and value profiles that are resonant with the University’s ambitious agenda.

Thank you for the interest in these professorial roles and I look forward to reading your application; and I do hope you will join us during the next and exciting phase of our development.

Professor Peter JohnVice-Chancellor and Chief Executive University of West London
