Nowadays engineering is one of the most high paying career and as well as the most

needed profession. Engineering profession needs an engineer to solve problems in daily life

professionally. They need to use all kind of knowledge and skill such as mathematics, physics

and communication to come out with a creative solution for a problem facing by the people

and society. One of the most advance engineering profession is the mechanical engineering.

This profession serves work in almost all kind of industries and various places.

Many company nowadays need a person with a bachelor degree in mechanical

engineering qualification to be pick up as their employee. Based on our research from the

newspaper on job advertisement, we actually find out that one of the qualities that have

been on the top list in any employment for this profession is technical ability. This qualities is

very important for any engineer. For an engineer to become easily employed by a company

they have to have a good technical ability in what kind of job they are going to go on with.

Technical ability is the ability need to accomplish various kind of scientific, mathematical

engineering or computer related duties and as well as other specific tasks. Such example of

technical abilities that needed are having a thorough knowledge of structural mechanics,

expert in thermal modelling and good knowledge in PLC programming.

Beside having a good technical abilities, an engineer must also posses a great

Information computer and technology (ICT) skills. This essential skill also being on the top list

in any job employment nowadays. This skill has become that very important because all kind

of job nowadays need the employee to have an adequate knowledge in handling thecomputer and gaining resources from the computer and internet. Based on our research on

the job advertisement that we have collected, a mechanical engineer who pursuing in a

designer profession need to have a good knowledge in using the computer-aided drawing

(auto-CAD) program and Solid Work program.

Other than that, another crucial qualities that should an engineer consider to have is

the communication or interpersonal skills. Communication can be classified as an essential

skills for any engineer. Without this skill, the profession itself would have become very

frustrating for the engineer because any problem cannot be solve without brainstormingidea among other engineers through effective communication. Communication skill would

be very important for an engineer who are going to manage other technician who are under

them. This range from how they are instructing the other and how they are communicate

with each other. Most company would choose an engineer with a fluent English and could

have speak confidently.

As engineering profession become more competitive, and the engineer itself have to

contain all the qualities that we have mention earlier and strong engineering knowledge. We

strongly believe that the program that we are currently enrolled will adequately prepare us
