Scope: Helps manage the golf course maintenance department day-to-day activities through maintaining quality standards, developing and retaining maintenance employees and exceeding guest expectations. Leads monthly safety meetings on various topics.
Provides a professional image at all times through appearance and dress.
Follows company policies and procedures and is able to effectively communicate them to subordinates.
Implements and evaluates fertilizer/pesticide programs.
Evaluates and assesses equipment management/operation/set up.
Follows up on daily course set up to assure course meets playing standards set by Arcis Golf and USGA.
Note: Other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
Qualifications: Education / Experience: Two-year Turf grass Maintenance degree and supervisory experience required. 3 years prior golf course experience with progressive responsibility required. Special consideration will be given to those who exhibit exemplary performance. Will acquire and maintain a pesticide license within the first three months of hiring.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Golf Course Superintendent (GCS) reports directly to the General Manager and has responsibility for all
day-to-day operations of the Deering Bay Yacht & Country Club golf course and clubhouse grounds. The GCS
will lead and manage their department to ensure superb golfing conditions favoring firm, fast and green
conditions while embracing members and guests with golfing conditions that are of superior quality.
Continuing education and being at the forefront of research and technology are necessary for success. In
addition, the GCS will provide innovative and relevant leadership and in perpetuating and fostering an
educational culture of developing and producing future turf professionals. The GCS must have a natural style of
“sincere engagement” with members and staff with a love of the game of golf along with a relentless attention
to detail. The Golf Course Superintendent reports to the General Manager.
Position Highlights:
Overall maintenance, operations and management of the golf course to provide the membership with an
outstanding golf experience on a daily basis.
Supervising the preparation and maintenance of the golf course, practices facilities, clubhouse grounds, and
golf course maintenance personnel.
Interacts closely with the General Manager, Director of Golf, and Green Chair to ensure that member

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience as Golf Course Superintendent. A history of providing

Superintendent with experience providing exceptional golfing conditions.
Experience with poor quality irrigation water management.

Understanding of advanced soil science and balanced soils.

Job Description
Hearthstone Country Club is a 27 hole private facility located in NW Houston. The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will report
directly to the Golf Course Superintendent. Under the Superintendent's supervision, the Assistant Superintendent directs and
participates in the maintenance of the golf course greens, tees, fwys, cart paths, and clubhouse/tennis lawns; supervises the
maintenance and repair of equipment; and does related work as required. The Assistant Superintendent may serve in the
Superintendents capacity during his/her absence.
Job Requirements
Must Have:
Working knowledge of the maintenance of greens, tees fairways; seeding and maintenance practices for golf course turf;
planting, cultivating, pruning and caring for plants, shrubs, and trees; characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers and soil
conditioners; herbicides and pest control methods; working knowledge of drainage and irrigation systems, including wells, pumps,
and automatic controls
Ability to schedule and supervise maintenance work to achive the most efficient utilization of workers and equipment; prepare
clear and concise reports; and maintain effective employee and public relations
Able to work 50+hrs per week including weekends and holidays
Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish
Possession of a valid drivers license
Ability to pass a back-ground check
Must have Texas State Pesticide applicators license or ability to obtain one within 90 days
