Janet Bentley

Janet Bentley is a survivor of Childhood Sexual Abuse who is passionate about using her experience to bring the subject out of the shadows and into the public eye.

Janet is a member of RAINN’s (Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network) Speakers’ Bureau and a facilitator of Darkness to Light’s Stewards of Children training. She also founded two non-profits dedicated to providing other survivors the tools and support they need to thrive despite the abuse they suffered

Janet is available to speak at any event where she can add understanding of Childhood Sexual Abuse. She speaks to adults, fellow survivors, healthcare professionals and children

Bringing Childhood Sexual Abuse out of the shadows: Janet gives an overview of the subject and provides the listener with the facts about CSA and how much abuse is occurring

Understanding who, where and why: Janet provides the listeners with examples of Childhood Sexual Abuse and highlights the most common situations where an abuser may be operating

Living a lifetime with the effects of Childhood Sexual Abuse: Janet shares her own experience of how early abuse shaped her life and caused her problems into adulthood. Although her story is one of pain and suffering, her vulnerability and understanding brings hope to many survivors as well as informing others

Making a difference: As well as being an advocate for survivors, Janet is passionate about preventing Childhood Sexual Abuse and shares the warning signs and the right way to approach a child who may be experiencing abuse

Janet is a member of the RAINN Speakers Bureau, which is made up of more than 1500 survivors of sexual violence who volunteer to share their stories. These individuals live in every corner of the country and represent a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences – together they make up an invaluable resource of knowledge and strength.

STEWARDS OF CHILDREN ® Janet is a licensed facilitator for Stewards of Children which is the only nationally available program scientifically proven to increase knowledge, improve attitudes and change child-protective behaviors. Appropriate for any adult, this training will teach you how to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse
