Due to scheduling problems
Friday, the Gurdon Go-Devil line-
man camp has been reschedule to
take place from 8 until 11 a.m. on
Monday, June 10 at the Go-Devil
practice field.
Head Gurdon Football Coach
Kyle Jackson said his team will
also participate in a football camp
on the Henderson State University
(HSU) field from 9:15 a.m. until
noon on Thursday, June 13.
Coach Jackson said, “Glen
Rose, Murfreesboro and Bismarck
will also participate in that football
camp. You are welcome to come
check out the teams.”
The coach said Gurdon will be
in the traditional 2A competition
again this fall. Last season, the
Go-Devils finished 9-3 overall and
6-1 in the conference. Hazen beat
Gurdon in the second round of the
play-offs and ended up state run-
ner-up.
This year’s Go-Devil football
coaching staff will be: Kyle
Jackson, new soccer coach Steven
Love, Cody Fortner, David Davis,
Brannon Hatley and Austen
Halliday.
Coach Jackson said the Go-
Devil team will get a three-week
break after the June 13 HSU camp.
Weight lifting and running will
resume on July 8 and traditional
fall practice will start on Monday,
August 5.
Just before that, there will be
a 6th annual 6:30 p.m. Thursday,
August 1 football season kickoff
dinner at the GHS cafeteria. The
tentative speaker will be former
Razorback player David Bazzel.
Go-Devil players in grades 10-12
will do the dinner serving and
clean-up plus be involved with the
traditional all-night practice after
the event.
Due to heat, there will be no
two a day practices, with some
August practices beginning at 7:30
a.m. and others starting at 3:30
p.m., depending on teacher orien-
tation schedules. School starts this
next year on Tuesday, Aug. 13.
