This year, I am asking that you go online to www.erfcinc.org to enroll your children in expanded activities at JFK After School. Enrollment is open anytime during the school year. In order for us to continue receiving funding to keep fees (for certain activities) as low as possible, it is important that we have data showing how many kids are involved in afterschool activities and what activities they enjoy. For the safety of all students and staff, it also helps us keep track of who is in the building after school. We do have a late bus at 3:15 for students on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Encourage your kids to participate in activities after 3:15 to take advantage of many learning opportunities. I hope your children will take advantage of all we have to offer afterschool. Studies show that students involved in high-quality afterschool programs have better grades, higher rates of homework completion, increased responsibility, and a better attitude toward school and learning. A growing body of evidence also shows that the afterschool approach to learning contributes to work-ready skills such as team work, problem- solving, critical thinking, healthy decision making.
