She studied cooking in Israel be- fore moving to New York, where she ap- prenticed in some of the city’s finest restaurants. Her first book is “Balaboosta: Bold Medi- terranean Recipes to Feed the People You Love.” KIM KUSHNER is the author of “The Modern Menu: Sim- ple, Beautiful, Kosher.” Her interest in food was sparked by childhood summers in Is- rael, feasting with her mother’s Moroccan family. Since studying at the Institute of Cu- linary Education in New York City, she has taught cooking for more than ten years. Moderated by Sandee Brawarsky, book critic for The Jewish Week.
