SWA NEWSMy client would be the SWA Students. I will tell them what the staffs at our school not telling them are not telling them.

Time Allowed: 8 weeks

Unit question: Can we trust everything we see and hear in the media?

Specification and limitation:

You can get my newsletter when I hand it out, after I print it. You can’t get my newsletter if I haven’t print it. I would be successful if everyone got my newsletter. But printing at school is expensive so I would just print at home.

For my specification and limitation, I need my newsletter to be reliable, factual, entertaining, and informative.


INTRODUCTION

SWA Students want to know what the teachers and staff are not telling them about the school. Therefore, I shall create a site for SWA news. We had to choose between news paper or online news. I chose online news. It would be easier to make online news because our school has wi-fi and laptops.

Trough 8 weeks, I will make a newsletter about SWA. To make this newsletter, I have to go trough some steps, like, investigation, design, plan, create and evaluation.


IMPACT ON SOCIETY AND ENVIRONMENT

The target audience are the students of SWA. Teachers, staffs and guests also can read my newsletter.

The impact on the environment is that I need to print my newsletter. Paper is produced by trees. So the more I print, the more trees that we are going to lose. Less trees are bad for the environment because we need trees for making stuff, shade, and trees create oxygen.


Community and Service

This task will relate to community and service because by dong this, I will help SWA students and guests about what they want to know more about our school. Stuff that they don’t know about. Like the news, events, assemblies, and such.

4. Which part do you want to know? Like sports or something.

5. What do you think makes a news interesting?

6. What are the good things and bad things about having an online news?


ANSWERS1. Because we are curious what the school hasn’t tell us yet.

2. We should interview the principal and the teachers or staff that might know.

3. Financial things.

4. Anything that is interesting or anything that you can find.

5. Colour, but not too confusing or later it’s going to be hard to read.

6. The good thing is an online news has accurate information and the bad thing is you cannot access it when you don’t have a computer and an internet connection.


From these questions I have learnt that SWA students are curious and that they want to know more about their school. I also can tell other people about SWA.

DESIGN 1

Pros: I like it because it shows important information and links.

Cons: It is not neat and the title is weird.

DESIGN 1:I like this design because it has all the subjects that we learned and important links. But there isn’t any links

to the gallery, to show our school pictures.


DESIGN 2Pros: It is not empty and it is not crowded.

Cons: It is too plain and needs more links into it.

I don’t really like this one because the links are too

little and if there aren’t too many links then it

wouldn’t be interesting.


DESIGN 3

Pros: There is a description to tell the readers of what is going to be on other pages.

Cons: Too simple and it needs more pictures and description.

I don’t like design 3 because it is too plain and the readers wouldn’t be interested in reading this, because there are only pictures and words.


DESIGN 4

Pros: It is neat and it will be easy to read.

Cons: It is too plain.

I’m not really interested in design 4 because it is too plain and there are

only 2 stories in this design. I should add more stories and

pictures to make it interesting.


FRIEND INTERVIEW/ PEER EVALUATION OF DESIGN

I think the best design is “Design 1- Website” because it is organized and neat. Even if it’s fancy, it still fits perfectly together. It’s very clear and easy to read, so I could understand what to do and where to go. The links are also precise and it fits for all age viewers.-Annisa

EVALUATEWas the plan was detailed enough and why?

Have I used all the resources available to me?1. Yes. Because the pictures are easy to read and people can

understand it easily.

2. Yes, because it is easy to understand

3. No, because I can still research more and make my slides more understandable.


POINTS OF THE PRODUCT

SUCCESSFUL: I think I really did well at the plan stage, because the pictures are clear and people can understand it, even without words. I found some good pictures from google and those pictures are useful for my planning stage. It is aesthetically pleasing for me because the colors are nice and the colors are compatible with each other so it doesn’t make the design look weird.

LEAST SUCCESSFUL: I think I did the least best and need to improve is the investigation stage. Because I have very little information and I need to research more about sites and such.


MODIFICATIONS

If I would have made another one, I would improve the information and how they were listed. I also would have interviewed the admin or someone that knows the school well. If I had more information, I will make my news more interesting. I will also research more pictures about the school facilities.
