The UWM Downer Residence Hall project is located directly on UWM’s main campus. It is a proposal for a new dormitory inhabiting the corner of Downer and Edgewood. The design process focused on function following form, creating a gateway from Sabin Hall to the south and the preserved land of Downer Woods to the north. Resident rooms are elevated above the lower geometries to promote views toward Lake Michigan to the east and Downtown Milwaukee to the south.

The brightened colors are motivated by the early morning sunlight illuminating the exterior curtain walls. The translucency gives the interior a glow that brightens the darker areas of the lecture hall.
Kern ParkPrimary School
The Primary School project’s site is in the already existing Kern Park. The ground plane of the park changes dramatically from Humboldt Boulevard on the western edge to the banks of the Milwaukee River on the eastern edge. Bringing the school up to the Humboldt Boulevard border allows for the park to remain largely intact for the student population. The aesthet-ics of the building focus on mass, transparency, and opacity allowing users to read the spaces in a variety of ways.
