M essage from President M essage from JCI President M essage from National Assigned Executive Officer January 2013 JCI East Kowloon was affiliated with Junior Chamber International (JCI) Hong Kong in 1980. This chapter has been one of the best chapters in training, being the cradle for trainers and training programs. The Success Dynamic and Success Training have geared up more than thousands of young active citizens in our society. Every year, Family Harmony, the flagship Community Development project of JCI East Kowloon, plays an important role in social sustainability. It arouses social awareness on the family issues. Through the project, members in JCI East Kowloon have equipped themselves as leaders to serve. JCI is an organization with the theme of Active Citizenship and Internationalism. As a partner with the United Nations (UN), we work closely through the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (UNMDG) projects to create a better world. Be Better is our goal on member development path. Together with 200,000 members in 5,000 local chapters from 115 national bodies, we have had a global network to create impact. This is also an echo to UNMDG eight goals that respond to the world’s main challenges. We believe JCI East Kowloon will work closely with JCI Hong Kong and work on the goals to achieve the solutions on the UNMDG which are poverty and hunger, universal primary education, gender equality, reduce child mortality, improve maternal health, combat HIV/AIDS, ensure environmental sustainability and develop a global partnership for development. In 2013, it should be a fruitful year for JCI East Kowloon. With the leadership of President Eliza Chan and her experienced team of Board members, I wish JCI East Kowloon great success. In JCI East Kowloon, a variety of meaningful projects have been organized to provide development opportunities that empower you to create positive changes and to be better individuals and young active citizens. The 2013 theme of JCI East Kowloon is “Together We Can”. This is not only our theme, but also our faith towards our JC life. We believe that Together, the entire Board of Directors and members of JCI East Kowloon, we have great potential and ability to bring our chapter forward to achieve many “possibilities” that include quality projects and activities. In 2013, we will work together to organize the following key projects: • The flagship Community Development project “Family Harmony” to echo with the United Nations International Day of Families on 15 May and the United Nations Global Compact, with focus on children's rights. • The UNMDG Debate Competition, one of the series of the National UNMDG Projects, in collaboration with the HK Association of Debaters, to promote the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (UNMDG) to the secondary school students aiming to cultivate them to be young active citizens. Through these projects and other useful training in JC, I hope that our members can be equipped to be better individuals and young active citizens to bring positive changes not only to himself/herself, but also to the community. Message from National Assigned Executive Officer

JCI East Kowloon was affiliated with Junior Chamber International (JCI) Hong Kong in 1980. This chapter has been one of the best chapters in training, being the cradle for trainers and training programs. The Success Dynamic and Success Training have geared up more than thousands of young active citizens in our society.

Every year, Family Harmony, the flagship Community Development project of JCI East Kowloon, plays an important role in social sustainability. It arouses social awareness on the family issues. Through the project, members in JCI East Kowloon have equipped themselves as leaders to serve.

JCI is an organization with the theme of Active Citizenship and Internationalism. As a partner with the United Nations (UN), we work closely through the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (UNMDG) projects to create a better world.
