Message from National Assigned Executive Officer

JCI East Kowloon was affiliated with Junior Chamber International (JCI) Hong Kong in 1980. This chapter has been one of the best chapters in training, being the cradle for trainers and training programs. The Success Dynamic and Success Training have geared up more than thousands of young active citizens in our society.

Every year, Family Harmony, the flagship Community Development project of JCI East Kowloon, plays an important role in social sustainability. It arouses social awareness on the family issues. Through the project, members in JCI East Kowloon have equipped themselves as leaders to serve.

JCI is an organization with the theme of Active Citizenship and Internationalism. As a partner with the United Nations (UN), we work closely through the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (UNMDG) projects to create a better world.

Be Better is our goal on member development path. Together with 200,000 members in 5,000 local chapters from 115 national bodies, we have had a global network to create impact.

This is also an echo to UNMDG eight goals that respond to the world’s main challenges. We believe JCI East Kowloon will work closely with JCI Hong Kong and work on the goals to achieve the solutions on the UNMDG which are poverty and hunger, universal primary education, gender equality, reduce child mortality, improve maternal health, combat HIV/AIDS, ensure environmental sustainability and develop a global partnership for development.

In 2013, it should be a fruitful year for JCI East Kowloon. With the leadership of President Eliza Chan and her experienced team of Board members, I wish JCI East Kowloon great success.

On behalf of Junior Chamber International (JCI) East Kowloon, I wish you all a Fruitful and Healthy 2013! Established in 1980, JCI East Kowloon was inaugurated as the 12th local chapter of JCI Hong Kong, which is affiliated with the worldwide leadership development organization – JCI.

“Be Better” is the slogan of JCI where members seek ways to live out the slogan. In JCI East Kowloon, a variety of meaningful projects have been organized to provide development opportunities that empower you to create positive changes and to be better individuals and young active citizens.

The 2013 theme of JCI East Kowloon is “Together We Can”. This is not only our theme, but also our faith towards our JC life. We believe that Together, the entire Board of Directors and members of JCI East Kowloon, we have great potential and ability to bring our chapter forward to achieve many “possibilities” that include quality projects and activities.

In 2013, we will work together to organize the following key projects:

• TheflagshipCommunityDevelopmentproject“FamilyHarmony”toechowith the United Nations International Day of Families on 15 May and the United Nations Global Compact, with focus on children's rights.

• TheUNMDGDebateCompetition,oneoftheseriesoftheNationalUNMDGProjects, in collaboration with the HK Association of Debaters, to promote the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (UNMDG) to the secondary school students aiming to cultivate them to be young active citizens.

Through these projects and other useful training in JC, I hope that our members can be equipped to be better individuals and young active citizens to bring positive changes not only to himself/herself, but also to the community. Enjoy JC Life and Enjoy JCI East Kowloon!

It is my great honour to be appointed as the National Assigned Executive Officer to JCI East Kowloon in Year 2013. I will stand by you all for working and playing together on better JC movement.

JCI East Kowloon is one of the local chapters specializing in training in Hong Kong. I could feel the strong cohesiveness among JCI East Kowloon members who are working hard and willing to be active citizens in Hong Kong.

The success of the long life project “Family Harmony” is a signature in its Community Development program to arouse public awareness on better relationship in the family. Through different projects, activities and trainings, members have plenty opportunities to reinforce leadership skills through actions with passion. Indeed, JCI East Kowloon has nurtured many young leaders in the community and businesses over the past 33 years.

With the strong commitment and leadership of President Eliza Chan together with her devoted Board of Directors, I believe there will be more success to come. “Together We Can” and to live up JCI Hong Kong 2013 theme “We are ONE Jaycee”!
