  • 2. Philippians 3:12-14 12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

  • 4. The Stoning of Stephen 54 When the members of the Sanhedrin heard this, they were furious and gnashed their teeth at him. 55 But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. 56 Look, he said, I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.57 At this they covered their ears and, yelling at the top of their voices, they all rushed at him, 58 dragged him out of the city and began to stone him. Meanwhile, the witnesses laid their coats at the feet of a young man named Saul. 59 While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. 60 Then he fell on his knees and cried out, Lord, do not hold this sin against them. When he had said this, he fell asleep. 8 And Saul approved of their killing him.

  • 7. What holds a congregation together? Good preaching? A great Worship Band? Being loved and cared for? A continual sense of the presence and blessing of God? A clearly stated vision? Opportunities to serve? In my experience, none of the above. Only the individual choice of a believer to stay, grow where theyre planted, be obedient to Gods voice, have a servant-heart, be open to correction and not be easily offended these are the things that hold people together. and they are increasingly rare commodities.
