CCD CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION St. Brigid Parish CCD Christmas Program will be held THIS SUNDAY, at 11:30AM at Neumann Hall. All parishioners are invited to attend and enjoy the program. Each family is asked to help with refreshments by providing either a food or drink item for brunch. Please plan to attend and celebrate this holy season with us.

PARISH LOTTERY CALENDARS Parish Lottery Calendars are available in the back of the Churches. Calendars are $ 20.00 each. They run from April 1st thru December 31st, 2014. Each family in our Parish is asked to take at least (5) calendars to sell. There are both packages of (5) calendars and loose (single) calendars available. (Please do not break up the packages.) You are asked to please sign the calendars out on the sign out sheet provided. Please help to make this very important fund raiser a success again this year!

AVAILABLE IN OUR CHURCHES The Word Among Us, The Catholic Digest, and two books from Dynamic Catholic Publishers, “Ordinary Lives Extraordinary Mission” by John R. Wood, and “Finding True Happiness” by Fulton Sheen are available in the back of the Churches. Please take one home with you. Please feel free to take a copy of any of these home with you today.

OFFERTORY ENVELOPES 2014 Offertory Envelopes are in the back of the Churches. They have (hopefully) been placed in the Church that you most frequently attend. If you can’t find yours, please call the parish office at (570)553-2288 and we will provide them for you. If you have never received envelopes in the past and would like to have them this year, please call the parish office. Use of the offertory envelope system is a great help in our record keeping.

END OF YEAR CONTRIBUTIONS Final contributions for 2013 should be made by Monday, January 13th, 2014. You can put them in the collection or mail them to the rectory.

REMINDER ABOUT SECOND COLLECTIONS Please remember that when there is a second collection on the weekend, only the envelopes for the announced special collection should be put in the second collection. All other envelopes, offertory, building maintenance, utilities, fuel, insurance, candlemas, Easter flowers, etc., go in the first collection taken up.

ALTAR & ROSARY KNIFE RADA SALE St. Brigid Altar & Rosary Society is selling Rada knives as an on-going fund raiser. Orders can be placed with a member of the Altar & Rosary or can be placed on-line by going online to www.helpourfundraiser.com and use customer number 504671. The password is mrsa01pw. Do not use capital letters in the password.

NEW VOLUNTEERS NEEDED New volunteers for the Ministries of Lector, Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, Altar Server, and Rosary Leader are always needed and welcomed. At St. Augustine we are most in need of Rosary Leaders (one person leads the Rosary almost every Sunday) and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (it would be helpful to have one more). At St. Francis we are most in need of Lectors for the 8:00AM Sunday Masses. (There are only three people who Lector for this Mass; one of them is away for the entire winter; one of them goes away for part of the winter. This leaves one person to Lector every weekend.) At St. Francis it would be helpful to have additional Altar Servers for the 4:30PM Mass. (There are currently only (2).)

His Excellency, the Most Reverend Joseph C. Bambera, D.D., J.C.L., Bishop of Scranton, and the Office for Parish Life wish to invite couples celebrating their 25th or 50th wedding anniversary in 2014 to a Diocesan Wedding Anniversary Mass on Sunday, June 22nd. The event includes a 2:30PM Mass at St. Peter’s Cathedral followed by a reception. Requests for an invitation, with a mailing address, should be made through St. Brigid Parish Office by February 10th.

WINTER YOUTH RETREAT Attention all Youth: St. John the Evangelist Youth Group is sponsoring a winter youth retreat on Sunday, January 12th from 1:30 to 6:00PM, entitled "Called and Chosen", featuring the popular group Full Armor. All are invited, especially youth in grades 7 through 12. The schedule for the day: 1:30PM— Welcome and Concert with Full Armor; 2:30PM guys and girls in separate groups for a panel discussion with local priests, sisters, and laity; 3:30PM Eucharistic Adoration, Confessions, and Benediction; 5:00PM Holy Mass for the Solemnity of the Baptism of the Lord, followed by dinner.
