Pastor’s Corner

My dear Parishioners, This Sunday, we begin Catholic Schools Week The theme for this year is “Catholic Schools: Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed.” To kickoff this week-long celebration, some of our little children from Assumption Academy will be present at the 10 AM Mass to sing for us. Like-wise, that morning from 10 AM – 1 PM the school will host an “Open House”. Many fun activities are planned this week to celebrate all that makes Assumption Academy so special. At this time, we have a total enrollment of 112 stu-dents. 75 of those are Catholic and of them 26 are parishioners at OLA. I thank our principal, Patty Welsh, as well as the entire staff and faculty for all of their hard work and dedication to make our academy such a wonderful place for our little children to learn and grow. Next weekend (February 1st – 2nd) we will celebrate Scout Sunday. This weekend recognizes the many contributions of our young people and adults made in scouting, as well as acknowledg-ing their personal call to worship God in service to His people. We are inviting our scouts to wear their uniforms at all the Masses next week-end and we will acknowledge them in a special way at our 5:00 pm Mass on Saturday evening. If you have any further questions regarding next weekend and/or involvement in the 5:00 Mass you may contact Patricia Hillis-Clark at: [email protected]. We ask God to continue to bless our scouts, their parents and the leaders as they strive to serve God & the local community. The Ladies of OLA (LOLA) are sponsoring their annual Beef and Beer Bingo on Sat., Feb. 8th at the Italian American Club in Wayne. The admission for the event is $30 and includes a hot roast beef buffet, draft beef, des-serts and 10 bingo cards. Payment will be col-lected at the door. We are asking that you please RSVP by Monday, February 3rd. To RSVP you may visit: www.olastrafford.org/beefbeerbingo. Likewise, if you have any further questions re-garding this event you may contact Marge DiGiacomo at (610) 688-3453. Finally, an update on our Annual Appeal. As of this writing we have received a total of $85,640 in donations. I want to thank all of you who have responded to this appeal. May God bless you for your generosity!

Love and prayers, Fr. Carey

OLA Planned Giving All parishioners & friends of Our Lady of the Assumption Church (OLA) are kindly asked to consider including OLA in their will & es-tate planning. We gratefully thank you in advance for re-membering this wonderful family & community of faith.
