We are grateful for all the assis-tance. We hope you enjoyed this special event compliments of the Edgewater Club. BROADWAY PALM DINNER THEATER by Bob and Pat Cameron Two plays remain for this season's offer-

ings: GRUMPY OLD MEN - January 9, 2020. This is the musical version of the well-loved and remem-bered 1993 movie done by Jack Lemmon and Wal-ther Matthau. It is the story of two old men living next door to each other who at one time had been very close friends. But now, they put each other down in a hilarious fashion. Since the spoken lines are important in this play, I want to mention that the Broadway Palm Theater provides hearing phones which most people find very helpful. There are still many seats available so ask your friends to join you. At this late date it is hard to cancel a bus or seats at the theater. The second offering will be KINKY BOOTS,February 13th. There are just a few tickets left for that show.

JANUARY CRUISERS by Alita Marlo

I'm wondering how many are packed and ready to go to the Panama cruise. I still have a few things to do and I'm already getting excited about our next one. Because this years cruise is a 10 day one, we will be going on a shorter seven day cruise next January, BUT, in a brand new ship with the same super gratuity and drink packages available to those who put their discounted deposits down early. So my fellow fun cruisers, call Ann at Expe-dia at 800-834-5183, ext. 613, and get on board with us. Also...we have just a few staterooms left for our River cruise on the Danube for this Octo-ber. We will fly into Nurenburg , Germany and visit Regensburg and Passau, before going to Krems and Vienna, Austria and then to Budapest, Hungary. I'm thinking of doing more river cruises but not sure which ones; if you've been on them or want to be, please let me know. Happy New Year.

BINGO NEWS by Alita Marlo

Let's see what we can do this year. I'm still looking for a full time resident to train for calling; we need to keep Bingo going. I know several new folks have moved in and we're happy to welcome you . You are the generation we were 20 years ago when we started these activities and now it's your turn to keep them going. Happiness is working together in a great community.

Well, Bocce season is once again about to start, and we are all looking forward to another exciting and fun filled year. We will have an organizational meeting shortly after the first of the year. Watch Bill Butlands club updates for the particulars. Again, if you are planning to play and have not filled out an application yet, try to get it to us before the first of the year. Application forms are in the clubhouse on the bulletin board by the Library. If you have any questions, call John Bauer at 419-681-1105.

TENNIS by Anne Overdulve

In December, Edgewater Tennis was in full swing. We have been playing casual games and will con-tinue to do so on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday mornings. If you are new to the game of tennis, or a seasoned player, all are welcome. Beginning in January, Friday afternoons will be slotted for our fun mixed- doubles games. We are always looking for more participants. Please come and join us! This event will be led by Linda Annunziello. In January, the inter-park tennis competitions also start. We have a ladies’ travel team and a men’s travel team. Ruth Hybel will be team captain for the ladies and John Annunziello will be team captain for the men. If it is our turn to host these competition games, they will occupy the courts on the occasional Monday or Wednesday morning. The 2020 schedules for the travel teams and weekly schedule for mixed doubles, will be posted on the bulletin board be-side the court. If you simply enjoy watching the game; we always welcome spectators. See you there!

2020 FASHION SHOW by Bonnie Shepherd Our annual Fashion Show, Celebrating Women, will be held on Thursday, March 5th, 2020. More information will follow in the February newsletter. Tickets will be sold in mid February. Please save the date!

MEN'S INTERPARK TENNIS by John Annunziello Our inter-park tennis season starts Jan-uary 8th as we host Country Club Estates at our park. There are 12 games in the season, 6 games at home and 6 away at other parks. Games start at 9:30 where teams 1 and 3 play, and after they are done around 11 am., teams 2 and 4 play. Our next home game in January is on the 15th when we play the team from Inlets. Come out and cheer our park on and see some good tennis.

INTERCOASTAL ONE DAY LUNCHEON CRUISE by Pat Cameron

Date: March 19,2020 Cost: $73.00 all inclusive There will be a new sign-up sheet on the bulletin board. (I have the two previous sheets so that there is no need to sign up a 2nd time.) At this time the bus is almost full. I have added 45 more seats on the Yacht and added a 47 passenger bus as many people have not yet returned who might wish to sign up. I did this with fear and trepida-tion, because we will have to have a minimum of 40 people to make the bus cost effective. So if you have not already signed up, please do so. Also, if you think you may have guests at that time, please feel free to include them or even friends from another park. This is a four hour trip between St. Petersburg, FL and Clearwater. We go under six bridges, see several beaches, and of course numerous gorgeous homes. Bob and I went last year and found it extremely nice; there are several activities on board, or you can just relax in the sun up top and watch for dolphins following the yacht; or simply enjoy new friend-ships. MAH-JONG by Cindy Martin

Can't believe it's coming on to another new year. Are you ready for Mah-Jong lessons? We are. Sue Lehmam is set to give lessons and brush ups starting the first Monday in the new year, Janu-ary 6 at 3:00 pm after our regular game. We would love to see all those who proclaim they want to learn. Now is your chance. If you would like to see us in action, we meet Mondays and Fridays 12:30 to 3 pm at the club house, feel free to come watch us any time. As serious as we look, it is fun and mind exercising. Hope to see you then.

HOW TO HAVE GREEN LAWNS AND BLUE PONDS from Fish & Wildlife Agency Green lawns don't have to mean green lakes. Beautiful yards and lakes can go hand in hand.. By following a few simple landscaping guidelines designed for our Florida climate, you can keep your lawn green and your lakes and waterways clear. Here are six practices you can follow to keep your lakes and waterways beautiful and ecologically healthy. The basic fact to remember is that nutrients (fertilizer) make plants grow. Nutrients in the water almost always cause algae growth. Nutrients belong on the land, not in the water. Fertilizer is needed only twice a year, fall and spring. Although many lawn services recommend fertilizing more frequently, more frequent fertilizing will usually re-sult in greener lakes. Fertilizer should be a "slow release” type, usually dry pellets. These forms of fertilizer keep most of the product on your law, rather than in the water, Fast release fertilizer prod-ucts can leach as much as 60% of their nutrient value into your lakes and canals with the first hard rain. Fertilizer is not needed within 30 feet of the water or the wetland. This area stays moister and produces healthy grass and shrubs without fertilizer. Following this principle alone can reduce the algae production by 40%. Reduce or eliminate fertilizer within five feet of the street. Fertilizer ap-plied right next to the sidewalk, street or driveway easily washes onto the hard surface and then in-to the lakes and canals. Remember that all water from every roof, driveway, lawn and street in your community runs directly into your lakes and canals, with no filtration of any kind. Keep grass clip-pings out of the lakes and canals. The tips of grass blades that are cut during mowing contain ex-tremely high quantity of nitrogen and algae loves nitrogen. High quality lawn crews will always blow grass clippings away from the lakes and canals. It's better for your lawn, and especially better for your waterways. Never allow pet waste to enter the lakes and canals. This product is more nutri-tious than grass clippings. Even pet waste left to decompose within 15 feet of the water accelerates algae blooms. These six practices will help keep our lawns greener and our lakes and canals clearer.

HOLIDAY ESTATES III HOME OWNERS ASSOC. by Arvilla Marlo January will be upon us by the time you are reading this. Our season will be in full swing. We have a lot of new owners since last January, so I think some things bear

repeating. I'm sure you bought here because it is such a wonderful place to live. Almost everyone tries hard to keep their properties up and looking good. Remember, most wild animals are protect-ed by this state. Please don't chase or allow your guests to chase, sandhill cranes, or the birds that walk on our lawns, or the alligators in the lakes and canals, or any other wild animals. Also, don't feed them as it is against the law. We are a 55+ and deed restricted community. Familiarize your-self with your documents and make sure your guests also understand them as you are responsible for them. Walk on the roads and not through yards unless the homeowner has given you permis-sion to do so. Yes, we do own our land but the roads are owned by the county. Any question regarding speeders or deterioration of roads need to be addressed to the county. Trash should not be put out before Sunday night, but I have been told the recycle pick-up comes earlier on Monday than in the past, so you may want to put it out by 6:00 a.m. on Monday. Because a good number of the people who attend our monthly meetings will be going on the clubhouse cruise in January, our meeting has been changed to January 29th. Walk facing traffic, ride your bikes with traffic and drive safely.

LEMON BAY ISLES PROPERTY OWNERS ASSOC. by Cheryl Miller Wow… welcome to 2020!!! The 2020 property owners’ dues are now payable; a check for $25 can be mailed to Cheryl Mil-ler at 6387 Partridge Avenue; they can be left at the POA box

at the Edgewater Club Office, or can be paid at Tuesday coffee until January 31st, 2020. Dues re-ceived after January 31st, 2020, will be assessed an additional $5 late fee. The slate of officers for the election at the annual January meeting were presented to the membership at the January 29th, 2020 meeting. Many thanks to Don Either, Dave Hartman and Mary Jo Van Winkle for their work on the Nominating Committee. The slate consists of the following: Vice President (2-year term), Nancy Fournier; Secretary (2-year term), Susan Hunter; Director (3-year term), Estelle Dearborn. In hon-or of the holiday season, we celebrated the “Third Annual LBI Christmas Spirit Lighting Display” program. The Lansciardi’s (winners from last year) and the Calliers and Brunos (both were awarded honorable mention last year) and the Board chose three homes: the home of Tony and Sue Bruno of Falcon was awarded the Grand Prize, Terry and Gary Hauss of Oriole and Karen and Gordon Campbell of Bunting were awarded honorable mentions. The Grand Prize winner was given a $25 gift card to Stefano’s Restaurant (personally donated by a Board member) and all three homes re-ceived certificates of recognition. This is an annual community based activity for LBI; we are asking these homeowners to join the Board next year to choose the homes for 2020. We had 32 homes represented at the December POA meeting. A total of 25 homes sold in 2018. The Board encour-ages all residents to attend the POA meetings – it’s the best way to know what is going on in LBI. A change to the membership of our POA was announced at the December meeting. When LBI was platted it contained Phases 1 1A, 2, 3 and 4. As the community grew, the developers determined that the Edgewater Club could not accommodate the entire population of the development, there-fore, the Lakeside Club was built and the homes built in Phases 3 and 4 were deeded to the Lakeside Club. There are 21 homes located in Phase 2 that belong to the Lakeside Club. Recently it has been legally determined that the 2014 “Memo of Understanding” that placed these 21 homes in the Phase 3 and 4’s POA is not legal, therefore, these 21 homes will now join our POA and be sub-ject to the Deed Restrictions and By Laws of such. A letter describing this situation has been deliv-ered to these homes, and soon each of these 21 homes will receive a welcome packet to our POA. This change does not, in any way, affect the membership of these homes to the Lakeside Club. Please join me in thanking our LBI POA board for all the work they do on behalf of our com-munity. Their dedication and volunteerism to LBI enhances not only our community as a whole, but represents the interests and well-being of all our residents. I would also like to recognize all resi-dents who have volunteered their time and “stepped-up” when projects needed additional volunteer help. The Board wishes everyone a happy and healthy 2020. Take care, be well and enjoy “our lit-tle piece of paradise”.
