Family Planning services through Mobile Van
• Janani is providing IUCD services through a fleet of 8 accredited Mobile Operatering Theatres in rural India.
• Improved accessibility to cost-effective and quality healthcare services in remote underserved areas addresses a major cause of poor uptake of FP services in Bihar.
• Commissioned as a pilot in one district to provide fixed day FP services at HSCs or APHCs; organized 10-12 camps per month on a defined schedule & route plan.
• Improving the quality of family planning services at Government medical facilities in collaboration with Bihar State and local government.

• Communication activity done to increase and inform Van schedule.

Status and Expansion of FP Services through Mobile Van
• Current operational Area since November 2012 till date - 1 district covering 23 Blocks.
• Expansion to 7 more districts eventually covering 137 blocks.
• Contribution to CYPs through Mobile Van services 11,484.
• Provide a basket of choice & services through these Vans.
• Referral and counselling also provided for other services.

Innovation and the Way forward
• Sustain improved access to FP servcies at the community level by recruiting and training local health personal;
• Engage private providers through franchising; • Advocate for change in population policy in the
introduction of more choice in the basket of services;• Scale up postpartum FP services, and • Open more outlets in rural areas for the sale of
contraceptives.
