(SALARIES & ALLOWANCES& OTHER CONDITIONS OFSERVICE OF CHAIRPERSON& MEMBERS) RULES, 1998

SRO 259, dated 26th August, 1998

In exercise of the powersconferred by clause (a) of sub-section(2) of section 17 of the Jammu and

Kashmir State Commission forBackward Classes Act, 1997 (Act No.XII of 1997), the Government herebymake the following rules, namely:

1. Short title andcommencement

(1) These rules may be calledthe Jammu and Kashmir StateCommission for Backward Classes(Salaries and Allowances and otherconditions of Service of Chairpersonand Members) Rules, 1998.

(2) They shall be deemed to havecome into force with effect from 20-09-1995.

2. Definitions

In these rules unless the contextotherwise requires :-(a) "Act" means the Jammu

and Kashmir StateCommission for BackwardClasses Act, 1997.

(b) "Chairperson" means theChairperson of theCommission nominated underclause (a) of Sub-Section (2)of section 3 of the Act.

(c) The words andexpressions used herein butnot defined shall have thesame meaning as assigned tothem in the Act.

3. Salaries, Perks,Allowances and facilities

(1) The Chairperson shall.beentitled to such salary, allowancesand other perks as is admissible to aserving Judge of the High Court onthe date he is nominated to theCommission.

(2) Every member other than theChairperson of the Commission shalldraw pay in the revised pay scale ofRs. 18400-500-22400 with effectfrom the 1st day of January, 1996,with D.A and other allow ances asadmissible thereon besides otherperks as are admissible to a Class-IOfficer of the State Government.

(3) In case the Chairperson or

the Member at the time of hisappointment as such, had retiredfrom active service, the amount ofpension including any commutedportion thereon shall be reducedfrom his salary.

4. Conveyance(1) The Chairperson shall avail

the conveyance facility as isadmissible to the serving Judge ofthe High Court.

(2) There shall be a pool oftwo vehicles at the disposal of theCommission to meet therequirements of the Members as wellas the Secretariat of the Commission.
