Responsible for the clinical enterprise in South Carolina’s only NCI designated Cancer Center. We have evolved the program to deliver true multidisciplinary care featuring clinics with Medical surgical and Radiation oncology seeing patients in the same clinic suite. We also have 10 disease specific tumor boards that meet weekly to improve patient care and outcomes. Our Bone Marrow transplant program transplanted 130 patients last year. The program includes 67 inpatient beds 54 ambulatory infusion chairs and 60 exam rooms seeing patients in 3 sites across the Charleston community. The Oncology enterprise netted MUSC a net income in excess of $14,000,000 in the year just completed. Coordinating the development of an oncology network with partner hospitals across the state.

with the Hematology and Oncology Division to create an economic vehicle to share revenue and set mutually definable goals and incentives

c. Expanded the North Charleston program to 10 infusion chairs, 6 exam rooms and a sterile compounding facility for infusion. Initiated a plan and CON application for a linear accelerator
d. Created a Joint Venture with Alliance Oncology to provide infrastructure for partner Radiation Oncology programs in a developing cancer care network across coastal South Carolina

care for patients with gastrointestinal malignancies. The center staff supports a group of 54 physicians and 17 PA’s specializing in GI Medical Oncology, GI Surgical Oncology, GI Radiation Oncology, and Gastroenterology. I am responsible for the center staff of 105 which includes RN’s, Tech’s and secretaries. Also responsible for coordinating the activities of a 12 member staff of Pharmacists, Dieticians, and social workers, during my tenure we have nearly doubled the patient care volume in both clinic visits and endoscopic procedures while the allocation of staff has increased 30%. The center completed 43,850 clinic visits and 10,700 endoscopic procedures in the last year. This volume resulted in an operating margin of $4,924,500. We have focused on improving staff productivity with renovations to the work space, improving patient flow and systems to support work activity. We have promoted a culture of personal accountability to both the members of our team and the patients we care for.

Chief Operating Officer of Clinical Affairs Responsible for the clinical activities of 195
physicians in both general and 8 specialty medicine divisions. The clinical enterprise generated $31,300,000 for the department in 2000 – 2001. Initiated a productivity measurement system for the faculty based on RBRVS that is adjusted by both new patient activity and patient satisfaction surveys.
Additional Responsibilities: Developed the strategic direction and planning
process for a 33,000 sq ft off campus Department of Medicine ambulatory care facility that includes a GI surgery center and Chemo therapy infusion center. The project will also include a new clinical trials program within the facility.
Managed the development of a joint venture imaging center providing MRI, CT and plain film services.
Coordinated the Department of Medicine participation in a multidisciplinary cancer program, which included moving chemotherapy to physician office based. The infusion program generated $1,600,000 of net income in 2000-2001.

including malpractice, contracting and noncompete issues.
Developed off campus clinical programs in communities surrounding Indianapolis by partnering with Community Hospitals to bring specialty programs to rural areas.

teaching clinic and University of Wisconsin employed academic faculty. This clinic comprises 13,450 visits per year and is a significant partner with the State of Wisconsin in their Medicaid initiative. This clinic uses a multidisciplinary team approach to both patient car and medical education.
