General informationJalles Machado was founded in 1981 by Jalles Machado de Siqueira and his son Otávio Lage de Siqueira in Goianésia GO. Ever since its foundation, in the 1980s, the mill´s goal has been to be recognized by the market as a model and an excellence reference in terms of service, technology and high-quality sugar production.

In 2000, the company pioneered in Goiás in energy cogenera-tion from sugarcane bagasse. It was the first company in the sugar and energy sector to effect the sale of carbon credits and in 2003 began to produce organic sugar, which is now one of its biggest advantages.

Our commitmentPRONATEC has been working with Jalles Machado for several years buying organic cane sugar. By the end of 2015 both parties signed their first 3-years framework contract including the commitment of PRONATEC to buy a certain quantity of organic and ESR fair trade certi-fied cane sugar from Jalles Machado. If needed, Pronatec is prepared to prefund the new sugar harvest to Jalles Machado.

From the purchased ESR organic fair trade su-gar the sum of min. 3% shall be provided from PRONATEC directly to a development fund. As Jalles Machado is a private company and not a cooperative, this development fund is a tool to ena-ble actions considered as a priority by the bene-ficiaries and Jalles Machado is going to open this fund during 2016 only.

2016 Pronatec will then allocate the first time the corresponding sum of 3% of the purchased ESR cane sugar.
