Esther Süss lived up to her role as favourite in the MTB Marathon World Championships, winning the race almost two minutes ahead of

titleholder Sabine Spitz.

After bagging the Swiss and European Championship long distance titles, Esther Süss has now also claimed the World Champion‘s rainbow

jersey. At around 65 km, Danish rider Annika Langvad mounted an attack from the six-rider leading group as titleholder Sabine Spitz fell

back to repair a defective rear wheel. Esther Süss was able to follow accompanied by Slovenian Blaza Klemencic, while 55 seconds behind,

Sabine Spitz was attempting to fight her way back. „I was told that Sabine was getting closer and that I had to move. It was actually too

early, but I knew I had to shift at some point,“ explained Esther Süss at the finishing line. The Swiss cross-country champion pulled away from

her two rivals to ride to victory on her own. „I was very nervous before the race because I had already participated in four races, while the

competition had left a few out. But it all worked out OK in the end,“ she declared, thinking back to 2009, when she just missed out on the

World Championship title.

She ultimately won 1:56 minutes ahead of Sabine Spitz and 2:53 minutes ahead of Annika Langvad. Slovenian rider Blaza Klemencic fell back

to twelfth due to a defect. Erika Dicht was ninth, 11:33 minutes behind the leader.

Esther Süss sichert sich nach dem Schweizer- und dem Europameistertitel auf der Langstrecke nun auch das Regenbogenjersey der

Weltmeisterin. Aus einer sechsköpfigen Spitzengruppe setzt die Dänin Annika Langvad nach etwa 65 Kilometer eine Attacke, nachdem

Titelverteidigerin Sabine Spitz einen Hinterrad-Defekt beheben muss und zuvor zurück gefallen ist. Esther Süss kann folgen und mit ihr die

Slowenin Blaza Klemencic, während Sabine Spitz 55 Sekunden dahinter um den Anschluss kämpft. «Man hat mir gesagt, dass Sabine näher

kommt und ich gehen muss. Eigentlich war es zu früh, aber ich wusste, ich muss irgendwann gehen», erzählt Süss im Ziel. Die Schweizer

Meisterin in der Cross-Country-Disziplin lässt ihre beiden Konkurrentinnen zurück und fährt solo zum Sieg. «Ich war sehr nervös vor dem

Rennen, weil ich schon vier Wettkämpfe hinter mir hatte, während die Konkurrentinnen welche ausgelassen haben. Aber jetzt hat es endlich

Après les titres de Championne de Suisse et de Championne d‘Europe longue distance, Esther Süss s‘est adjugé le maillot arc-en-ciel de

Championne du monde. Au bout de 65 kilomètres environ, la Danoise Annika Langvad a placé une attaque pour s‘extraire du groupe de

tête composé de six coureuses, après que la tenante du titre Sabine Spitz a été décrochée pour avoir dû réparer sa roue arrière. Esther Süss a

pu suivre avec, dans sa roue, la Slovène Blaza Klemencic, tandis que Sabine Spitz essayait de faire la jonction 55 secondes derrière. « On m‘a

dit que Sabine se rapprochait, j‘ai donc accéléré. C‘était trop tôt, mais je savais que je devais partir à un moment donné », explique E. Süss

à l‘arrivée. La championne suisse de cross-country a laissé derrière elle ses deux concurrentes et s‘est imposée en solo. « J‘étais très nerveuse

avant la course parce que j‘avais déjà fait quatre compétitions contrairement à mes concurrentes. Mais tout s‘est finalement bien déroulé

aujourd‘hui », déclare E. Süss en évoquant le titre de Championne du monde qu‘elle avait raté de peu en 2009.

Elle a finalement gagné avec 1 min et 56 s d‘avance sur Sabine Spitz et 2 min et 53 s sur Annika Langvad. La Slovène B. Klemencic rétrograde

à la douzième place suite à un problème technique. Erika Dicht termine neuvième avec 11 min 33 s de retard.

Esther Süss si assicura ora, dopo il titolo di campionessa svizzera ed europea su lungo percorso, anche la maglia iridata di campionessa

mondiale. Da un gruppo di testa di sei cicliste, dopo circa 65 km, si è staccata, all’attacco, la danese Annika Langvad, dopo che la detentrice

del titolo Sabine Spitz ha dovuto affrontare un problema alla ruota posteriore e ha dovuto retrocedere. Esther Süss seguiva e con lei la slovena

Blaza Klemencic, mentre Sabine Spitz, con un ritardo di 55 secondi rispetto a loro, lottava per raggiungerle. «Mi hanno detto che Sabine

mi era alle costole e che dovevo accelerare. Di fatto era troppo presto, ma sapevo perfettamente che prima o poi lo dovevo fare», racconta

Süss giunta al traguardo. La campionessa svizzera nella disciplina del cross-country ha seminato alle sue spalle entrambe le concorrenti e si

è diretta da sola verso la vittoria. «Ero molto nervosa prima della corsa perché avevo alle spalle già quattro gare, mentre le concorrenti ne

avevano tralasciato qualcuna. Ma ora ce l’ho finalmente fatta», dichiara Süss con lo sguardo rivolto al titolo di campionessa mancato per

poco nel 2009.

Ha vinto alla fine con 1:56 minuti di vantaggio su Sabine Spitz e 2:53 minuti su Annika Langvad. La slovena Klemencic ha dovuto retrocedere

per un problema tecnico al dodicesimo posto. Erika Dicht si è classificata al nono posto con un ritardo di 11:33 minuti.

The ErgoFit Ultra’s loop that clasps the head is only fixed to the helmet’s shell in two places, allowing the loop to adapt to the head’s shape directly and ergonomically. Two suspended links flexibly connect the loop at the back of the head to helmet’s upper shell. AeroMesh features a high amount of stretch as well as excellent breathability. The weave’s honeycomb structure makes sure you get an optimum amount of stretch and thus a lot of wearing comfort. This mesh weave’s excellent breathability prevents heavy transpiration and is non-chafing. Other than most materials AeroMesh gets also an antibacterial treatment, thus preventing skin irritations as well as sweat-related body odours.

10.00Spirado 10.00 is an extremely high quality functional yarn made of special polyester. The hydrophobic properties of this synthetic fibre have been improved so that Spirado products absorb moisture and give it off quickly again on the outside. Spirado textiles dry much faster than conventional textiles. The material offers you a pleasantly cool, dry feeling during wear, – even during extreme physical exertion. The fibres are pleasantly soft to the touch, kind to the skin and have an antibacterial effect. The material is extremely hard-wearing and requires little care.

Bei dieser Kunstfaser wurden die hydrophoben Eigenschaften des Polyesters so verbessert, dass Produkte aus Spirado die Feuchtigkeit aufnehmen und diese beschleunigt wieder nach aussen abgeben. 10.nanoSpirado 10.00 with an additional nano silver treatment. Through a special process, the silver is bound so firmly to the finished textile that it is still bonded to the fabric even after many washes (150 times at 40°C). The overall silver content of a textile is approx. 20%. In addition to its properties of reducing and dispersing odours, nano silver also prevents the growth of germs, bacteria and mites, and keeps the skin dry and fresh. Nano silver is also environment-friendly, highly suitable for allergy sufferers and helps in cases of eczema. It has no adverse effect on other textile properties.
