To all incoming HBAs,

Save the Date – Pre-Ivey Workshops will be running at Ivey between August 27th and August 28th, 2013. These workshops are available in both Financial Accounting and Excel. These workshops are not a requirement for incoming HBA students, but rather an option for those who feel they will be better prepared for the HBA1 year with a quantitative skill refresher. The material presented in each of these courses will not be taught in your HBA 1 courses, rather they are meant to give you the knowledge base that is required to take accounting and excel concepts to the next level of learning.

COURSE OPTIONS:

Accounting Refresher (Half Day)This one-day workshop will refresh your knowledge of the financial accounting skills learned during your BUS2257 course including a review of the accounting basics through to building the financial statements. The expectation in HBA 1 is that you have sound knowledge of financial statement assembly and analysis. This course will be made available only to those students with less than 78% in their BUS 2257 class.

Excel: Beyond the Fundamentals (Full Day)This one-day workshop reviews basic excel navigation, functions and graphing. You will also be introduced to more advanced functions including: navigating large data sets, sensitivity analysis such as goal seek variable data tables, hlookup, vlookup, pivot tables & charts and conditional statements. Lastly, you will be introduced to and required to apply several analytical excel functions such as standard deviation, correlation, normal distribution and linear regression.

1. Online Registration will take place for all incoming students starting on July 22, 2013. Further details regarding registration process will be made available the end of June through email.

2. Registration with full payment closes Friday, August 2, 2013 with no refunds after Friday, August 9, 2013. Payment is through credit card or money order. Registration is subject to availability.

Cost for the full day excel course is $120.00 + HST. Cost for the half day accounting course is $60.00 + HST. Course Costs include all course materials and a morning and afternoon snack.
