Choirs from across Lancashire will be taking over the festival on Sunday to perform on two stages and in the Marina Café throughout that day.
The day of singing will build momentum towards the BIG SING where 400
singers, from local choirs and schools will come together to sing a brand
new suite of songs.
The songs were commissioned by Preston Guild 2012. They were written by choirs, schools and local singers, and the suite was compiled by Pete Moser, artistic
director of More Music. Local musicians who contributed song writing skills and time to the project include Tom Walsh, Gregg Butler, Paul Russell, Susie Jones, Rob Kentell, Tyndale Thomas and Tom Metcalfe.
The common aim of all of the songs is to celebrate Preston Guild and the place of Preston docks in the town’s history. Central to the day’s singing is the new Preston
Guild Anthem, created by poet Lemn Sissay and composer Peter Moser.
WATERAIDWe are delighted to have WaterAid as a partner in this project. WaterAid is an international non-governmental organisation, which aims to transform lives by improving access to safe water, hygiene and sanitation in the world’s poorest communities. We will be collecting for WaterAid throughout the day and any donations that you can give will be very gratefully received.
