WHAT IS COMPUTER ?

→ An Electronic device→ A Programmable machine→ A Machine that performs calculations→ A Person who makes calculations

COMPUTER IS:

• The word computer is derived from the Latin word ‘computare’, which means “to calculate”. The word computer was first used in 1613; referring to a person who carried out calculations. The definition of computer remained same until 19th century. But after that, it began changed and referring to a machine that performed calculations.

→ Computer is the combination of devices and machines, which executes a programmed list of instructions and respond to new instruction, that are given.→ CPU and Monitor are the machines of computer, while the keyboard and mouse are the devices of computer.

• Computer itself, not only CPU, monitor, keyboard, and mouse etc, but such these things are collectively known as computer.

HISTORY OF COMPUTERThe earliest computer was the abacus, used to perform basic arithmetic operations.

ABACUS: An abacus is a mechanical device used to assist a person in performing mathematical calculations.
