I wish we could experience that zeal and
enthusiasm every time we get together, but
for some reason it just doesn’t happen. So,
all too often, we are left a bit short of the
experience.
Here is a thought. In Philippians, Paul writes
to the church and he says, “Finally, brethren,
whatever things are true, whatever things
are noble, whatever things are just, whatever
things are pure, whatever things are lovely,
whatever things are of good report, if there
is any virtue and if there is anything praise-
worthy, meditate on these things.”
So, there we have it. When God does some-
thing wonderful in our lives, don’t soon
forget it. Think on it. Keep your mind on
things that are Godly and good.
Serving Christ,
Bro. Floyd
John 3:30
“He must increase, and I must decrease.”
Dear Family,
Just a couple weeks ago we celebrated Easter.
We began with a Sunrise Service. It was
beautiful. There were around 100 people
who attended at 6:50 a.m. The music was
wonderful, and I enjoyed so much the privilege
of preaching under the tent. Following the service
was a breakfast. After that, an egg hunt for
the smaller kids, and then Sunday School followed
by worship time.
I have reflected on that day many times since.
It was really a great spiritual boost for me. So
many of you have also commented on the
blessing you received on that day. I have one
more thing to say about that Sunday. Do it
again Lord, do it again.
What an amazing morning of worship we had on Resurrection
Sunday. I do not typically enjoy being anywhere at 5:30 in the
morning but that morning was something special. From setting
up the chairs and sound system to leading the choir
and listening to the sermon, it was a wonderful time of
worship. I am glad that so many of you joined us and
look forward to seeing the fruits of our labors in the coming
months.
April was a crazy busy month for the youth group, and me in
particular. We started the month off with the eye clinic and
helping paint Miss Eudene’s house. We then set up the tent and
had our Easter celebration. If you missed that, you missed
something special. We had a summer planning meeting with
our leadership team on April 30th and are excited to reveal our
summer theme and schedule on May 24th at our school is out/
summer is here party. On top of all of this my wife and I have
been remodeling our kitchen for the past 30 years it seems like,
but we just finished that (Praise the Lord!!!) We then ran in a 5k
obstacle race called the rugged maniac on April 29th (I am
writing this on the 26th so here’s hoping we come out unhurt!)
So we have been training for that. All of this to say my plate has
been rather full lately.
And yet, I still have a peace. I still know that God is here. I know
that His plan is perfect. I know that He leads beside still waters.
He still gives me rest. He is always in control. Some days I feel
run completely into the ground. Some days I feel unmotivated.
Nevertheless, He lifts me up and carries me through. I
have always prided myself in never giving up. In pushing
through. I do not like to quit. But my only real strength comes
from God and the knowledge that the only way for me to push
through some things, all things, is to rely completely on Him.
With my two hands, alone I can only destroy. However, by
relying on Him to lift me up and strengthen me, I can do
wonderful things for His kingdom.
If you are feeling beaten down and exhausted, come rest before
the Father. He loves you and will always be there for you. Lay
your burden on Him, and He will strengthen you more than you
could ever imagine.
Much love church,
Bro. Lucas

FOR ALL THE TEACHERS OUT THERE
As a teacher, you may think all your students have heard the Gospel so many times that they have grown bored. Let me assure you that is not the case. The world today is full of fear and we never know what insanity will crop up next. We do know this, however, God is the Creator of all things and loves us. Acts 17:24-28 tells us about our Creator and we live only through Him. He is still in control of everything that occurs and there is nothing which surprises Him.
The Bible, being our anchor document, tells us His story and His love for us. The literature from which we teach is based totally upon God’s Word. Your personal testimony is also an important part of the total concept of teaching. Your students never tire of hearing how God has worked in and through the lives of people they know. This helps them see the hand of the Father in their own lives. So, please don’t think they are not listening, they are. They need to hear the good news as urgently as any new visitor. Everyone needs to hear that God loves them and has a plan for their life. They need to hear that Jesus, God’s only Son came to earth as one of us and bore our sins upon the cross. They need to hear that if they confess with their mouth and believe in their heart that Jesus died for them and rose from the grave, they can have eternal life.
And they need to hear all of this from you. As a teacher, you have their attention every week. That is an awesome responsibility, but God put you in this position. He would never have placed you there if He wasn’t sure that you wouldn’t trust Him and get to work. God is there with you and with His strength, you can do this.
Let’s keep living what we believe!
Bro. Roger
