Miss Peel’s Short Story Competition

THE HOUSE ON MAPLE STREET

One dark night there was a house. But the house wasn’t a real house. The people looked at this house, but just then the ground started to shake. The house looked like it was jiggling itself. The people said we have to stop this mess.

They said, “But who is it?”Others said, “They are called the Digs.” They tried to help. Then they called the President. He tried and tried to help. Then they called the police. Then the police looked inside the house. There was a dinosaur. It was a T-Rex. The police stopped the T-Rex stomping. That was what had been making all of the mess, so the T-Rex went back to dinosaur land.

Once upon a time there was a mysterious, weird and scary house. It wasn’t just an ordinary person’s house, it was a mad and crazy scientist’s house.

He lived with his wife and sons, Joseph and Alex. The house looks ordinary from the outside, but inside there are zombies, skeletons and Frankenstein.

Inside the house as well there is a machine which makes the house fly. There is also some rocket boosters on the house.

He finally took off. He wanted Joseph, Alexandra and Alice free and they all lived happily ever after.

Year Two Winner - Leo Norris

There was a house on Maple Street. It was a very strange house because people said it was haunted. Some people even said it’s a ghost house. But no one actually knew who lived in it or what went on in the house.

One night a person snuck out of hishouse and went to see what was going on in the mysterious house. He went to the downstairs window and looked through it and he saw a mad scientist. The boy almost jumped out of his skin, he also did a loud shout and that startled the Professor, as well. The boy was still calming himself down when the Professor said, “Hello!”

The boy was startled and said, “Who are you and what are you doing? People think you’re a ghost and some people even think that your house is haunted!”“Well you know those people that say things like that are just crazy people do you know what I mean?” “Well that was what I thought,” said the boy showing off. “Well that’s enough chit chat about what people think of my house and of what people think of me! Now then, who are you?” “Oh I’m Tom and who are you?” said the boy. “Just call me Professor.” answered the professor.

“What are you doing anyway? Inventing in your lab or whatever you call it?” said the boy.

“Well you see it is tradition that at least one person in my family goes to destroy a planet and each year there becomes less and less planets, but one day somebody in our family will have to destroy our planet, Earth.” replied the Professor.

“Ok then what date do you do it?” asked Tom.

“Every year we do it on the 1st of May and that is today. But I forgot that the person that is going to destroy a planet has to bring a friend with them. I was just thinking, do you want to come with me?” said the Professor. “Well I’m not doing anything tonight so all right then,” replied Tom.

“Right we leave at 8 o’clock. I just have to fix the rocket boosters on and then we will be off”.

So,the Professor and Tom fixed the rocket boosters onto the house and then they were off. When the Professor had finished with the house they got in it and then the professor showed Tom how to steer the house and soon enough they were in space. Then the Professor told Tom that this time they had to destroy the planet Pluto. Then when they had destroyed Pluto all they had to do was to wait till they got home.

When they were both home, Tom said to the Professor, “Thank you for the ride it’s been a real adventure!” “Thank you.” said the Professor.

“But Tom, before you go, I need to tell you when you wake up in the morning you will think that all this was a dream.” said the Professor. “All this? No way,” said Tom “You better get going it’s getting late,” said the Professor.

The next morning Tom woke up and said to his Mum, “Mum last night I had the strangest dream ever!” “Why what was it about”, said Tom’s Mum.So Tom told his mum the whole story and when Tom was older, he did the same thing as the professor had done.

The Magic House

Once upon a time, on the corner of a big street named Jackson Palace, there was a girl called Mellissa. She was young and talented and she loved to sing and dance. Anyway, let’s get to the good bit, that night Mellissa was going to a dancing and singing concert. She was very excited. Mellissa was rather scared of the house over the road because it wasn’t there a couple of days ago, and there was definitely not any builders to build the house. It was getting late and it was nearly time to set off to the concert. Mellissa was wearing a red long dress that went down to the floor. She was singing to Little Mix and doing a bit of dancing. It was time to go and Mellissa was feeling nervous, her career was in her hands.

“Mama told me not to waste my life she said spread your wings my little butterfly!” sang Mellissa.

Mellissa came second in the concert. Mellissa was on her way home and she saw the house over the road move. Mellissa shouted to her Dad that it had moved but he just wouldn’t listen to

Mellissa. Mellissa was really scared now, she wouldn’t go across the road. Mellissa was on her way to her friend’s house when the house over the road swallowed a person. Mellissa screamed and ran off to her Dad.

Mellissa told her Dad what had happened, still the mystery lies in our secrets, who owned that house? Who will save the day?

The Hotel on Maple Street

In 1951 the disappearance of eight school children was a huge mystery in a small village in America.

It was the day of the school trip, Mr Hitler loaded the school van while the children kissed and hugged their parents goodbye. Little did they know it would be the last time they would ever see their parents.

During the journey, the weather turned against them when they were in the middle of a huge thunder storm. Mr Hitler decided to find somewhere safe to stay for the night in an old village called Shanksville.

On Maple Street stood a huge hotel with the upstairs light on, luckily for Mr Hitler and the children the door was open but weirdly no-one was home.

Mr Hitler decided it would be a good idea to stay for the night because the storm was getting worse, he got the children into the hotel and went to get their luggage from the van.

As Mr Hitler left the hotel ‘BANG’ the door slammed shut behind him then he was thrown across the lawn like a feather in the wind, the children were screaming ‘help’ ‘Mr Hitler’ ‘help!’ Mr Hitler tried to get up but some mysterious dark shadow pushed him down to the ground. He tried to scream, he couldn’t. He tried to move he couldn’t. He was trembling with fear.

The storm suddenly stopped and everything went deadly quiet ….. then, BOOM!

The house took off into the night sky, taking the children with it.

Mr Hitler was then freed but how would he explain what just happened? In his panic, he banged on every door in the street but no-one believed what he told them, for there was never a hotel on Maple Street!

On one dark scary night, there was a man walking down through the woods. He was a very poor man, who wore a ragged coat, with long brown high boots and a ripped brown hat. The man hadn’t eaten for one whole week or drank, his stomach was turning inside out!

Then the man looked up into the sky. He saw a mansion right in front of him. It was an old dirty mansion, but it was better than living on the streets. Then the door slammed open. So the man walked in. He shouted, “Anyone in?” But nobody replied. He was home alone in the mansion until he heard something fall, smash! Bang! The man was extremely scared, he tiptoed up the stairs, as quiet as a mouse.

When he got upstairs he heard a scream, “H-H-He-Help”. The man said to himself, I’m definitely not home alone. So the man opened the door as quietly but as quickly as he could. There was no one in there; the man went to the next door. There was no one in there, so he went to the next door and there was no one in there! So he decided to go and have a look through the window. The door slammed closed he was locked in.

The man started to shout, “H-H-He-Help!” But no one came. He then decided to shout, “Someone save me!” but no one came. It was extremely cold (like Antarctica), there were icicles hanging on the windowsills. Early one morning, there was a man walking through the woods, so the man who was trapped inside the house shouted “Help!!!” The other man shouted “AAAAhhh!” he jumped out of his skin. “I have been locked in for two days.”

“I’ll ring the police.” he shouted, loudly.“Okay, thank you!” he was filled with relief.

After two hours the police came, they couldn’t get in the house so they put out a lifesaving cushion. The man jumped. It was like landing on 1,000 marsh mallows, he sank right into it and then came back up.

As he started to walk away the house started to lift and he looked back and shouted, “Wow, what is that?”

After he watched it for 15 minutes a green thing popped out of the window, there were aliens in there!
