Exciting, Exciting, Exciting At the moment I am gathering quotes to
refurbish the library. There is lots to be done
and I am looking forward to comple6ng this
project and obtaining a modern new age
resource centre. I have spoken to some
parents regarding ideas or sugges6ons and
will be speaking to the school leaders as
well. The Resource Centre will be an invi6ng
place for children to explore literacy or
enhance their research skills. This project
has created a lot of excitement amongst the
staff and the children and a9er talking to
parents they are excited too! Can’t wait to
see it in full swing!
ANZAC Day Assembly On Friday at 9.10am there will be a special
assembly to commemorate ANZAC day and
pay respect to all that helped protect our
Country. All parents and friends are most
welcome to aEend this special assembly. To
help prepare the children for this event it
would be good to have a chat to them about
the significance of ANZAC day and why we
honour these people and all their efforts.
Professional Development As part of our Learning Journey Jodi Wilkins,
Shannon Young, Jus6n Mackay and I will be
aEending a Leadership Conference held at
the Bastow Ins6tute - Leading
Transforma6ve Conflict Resolu6on. We will
be aEending the Conference Wednesday,
Thursday and Friday. In my absence Geoff
Gowans with Steve Lynch’s support will be
taking care of the school. If you have any
concerns/issues please see Steve/Geoff on
these days. I am looking forward to this PD
to enhance my leadership knowledge in this
area. The Bastow Ins6tute is renown for
delivering high quality programs and courses
which lead to growth and change. I am really
looking forward to being involved in this
conference and transferring what I gain from
it to the school.
School Council School Council is s6ll in need of one co-opt
member. Being on school council can be a
very rewarding experience and enables
members to have a voice. Many significant
decisions are made by council which influence
the direc6on of the school. If you are even
slightly interested, please come and see me
for more details. It is a great opportunity to be
part of the overall school improvement.
Fire Brigade Visit The Fire Brigade visited our Preps on Tuesday.
They really enjoyed the visit and were taught
to stop, drop and roll. It was lovely to hear
from the Fire Officers that our Prep children
were very seEled and listened carefully. What
a wonderful compliment. Thanks Steve and
his Prep team for organising this visit and
ensuring our Preps are “seEled and listening
carefully”.
Reminder If you have received a permission note to see
the chaplain please sign it and return it to
school asap. If you would like to speak to
Dave, he is here on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Dave is available to discuss concerns and
assist in any way possible. A great resource at
the school.
French Day On the 10th June Madame Cecile would like
to have a French day. If parents would like to
be part of this event or have any sugges6ons
please see Cecile. Madame has many
wonderful ideas in mind but needs some
support to ensure this is a successful day. Any
help would be most appreciated.
Happy Reading!

Kitchen News
It has been a great start back a9er the Easter holidays with the kitchen classes. The
students last week were using many harvested items from the garden such as
pumpkin, rocket, silverbeet, mint, basil, different varie6es of beans and melon.
They made a delicious pasta dish which they all enjoyed with roast pumpkin and rocket
pesto, as well as minestrone soup which most students enjoyed and were asking for
more and there was plenty of interest for the Anzac Biscuits!
The grade 3/4 classes are preparing a slightly different menu to the older grades in order to use the many eggs from the chickens. They are
using the eggs with potatoes from the garden and chorizo sausage to make potato salad.
Kitchen sessions are always needing volunteers to assist in supervision of the different groups with the classes to help the sessions run
smoothly and on 6me and help prepare for the next session.
If you can spare some 6me on Tuesdays from 12-1.30pm or on Wednesdays and Thursdays the sessions are 9.30-11am or 12-1.30pm. Your
help is greatly appreciated by students and teachers. It would be great for each session to have regular assistance from volunteers if possible.
Thanks
Gregg Hansford
BREAKFAST CLUB
We are currently looking for a volunteer to run breakfast
club on a Monday morning. If you could spare half an
hour before school on a Monday to cook some toast and
make some warm milo, we would love to
hear from you!
Thank you for your support.
Mothers Day Stall
On Friday 8th May we will be holding our Mother’s Day Stall for
the children to buy a special gi9 for their mum, grandparent or
special person.
All gi9s will be between 50c and $2.00.
Come have a look at what will be available to buy and the
wonderful raffle prizes to be won in the
office foyer.
Thanks from the Fundraising Team.
Easter Raffle
A very big thank you to all our Dorset families
who donated to the Easter Raffle and to all the
helpers who worked hard to put our Easter
baskets together. With over 50 raffles drawn
we raised a massive $ 1160.00.
Well done Dorset! It's greatly appreciated!
Many Thanks,
The Fundraising CommiEee
Chaplain’s Chat with Dave
My Catch Phrase (Part 1)
When my three teenagers were children, it was so easy to
spend most of my 6me telling them what they were doing
wrong. Having three kids within three years meant they
were always up to something. Because I didn’t want to
focus on the nega6ves, I came up with a phrase to help me
look for posi6ves – because that’s who I want them to
become.
Catch them doing something right and tell on
them!
We all want to be no6ced. We repeat ac6ons that get us
aEen6on. That’s human nature. We become the ‘me’ that
gets no6ced. Catching (and praising) your kids for doing the
right thing is very powerful. It can change an aUtude for
life!
You could catch them smiling, sharing, playing, crea6ng,
listening, sleeping, ea6ng or any posi6ve ac6on you want
to see more of in your child. Let them know you saw what
they did and that they are awesome!
