SITA forges ahead with implementationSITA began rolling out project implementation activities in East Africa in May 2015 with a series ofstakeholder consultation meetings covering different sectors, including cotton-textile-apparel (CTA),pulses, sunflower oil and information technology-enabled services (ITES) & business processoutsourcing (BPO).
Initial consultation meetings on the CTA sector were organized in Ethiopia and Kenya, whileconsultations on the pulses sector took place in Kenya, Uganda and the United Republic ofTanzania. For sunflower oil, consultations were held in Uganda and the United Republic ofTanzania, while consultations on ITES and BPO were held in Rwanda. The meetings were aimed atproviding a map of value chains, sector analysis and an overall perspective on the target markets.The meetings addressed trade-specific topics - such as requirements of potential buyers and factorsaffecting competitiveness - and also focused on setting overall strategic objectives andrecommendations for implementation.
This fourth issue of the SITA Newsletter presents the proceedings and outcomes of these firstconsultation meetings.
