Welcome to Issue 5

Hello and welcome to already the 5th issue of CAMEA Connect. In this issue we are covering a presidential visit and some very interesting and well organized launch events.

Michel Sebag, the Strategic Business Unit Manager for the French speaking countries, launched the French training catalogue, KaMpus. We hope our French speaking distributors will find great advantage now they have the opportunity to learn in their own language.

It is great to actually ‘see’ (also here in CAMEA Connect) the feedback of all events organized by our distributors. The quality of the events has vastly improved, which is confirmed by the great response and turnout for each event. A great opportunity to boost potential sales.

Whenever you are looking to organize an event, please keep in mind that the CAMEA team is available to assist with your event requirements, all you have to do is ask…

Last but not least, we are nearing the end of the first quarter in this financial year. We would like to end this on a high, so utilize all opportunities available to you to close those all-important sales.

As they say in Germany, “Hals und Beinbruch” for the last few weeks in this quarter.

Until we meet again.

Yours,

Mark Oldfield

Senior Area Manager CAMEA & Head of Malta Offices Business Operations Division Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe

an ‘introductory event’ of our brand, the solution chosen for discussion was the PageScope Enterprise Suite (PSES). The reason for this, apart from the fact that this is a totally Konica Minolta developed product, we wanted to touch as many areas as possible from the 12 categories of Applications which our company offers – and PSES, consists of 5 modules coming from 5 different categories from our Portfolio! In this manner, we could give a wider perspective of our offering to the client audience present – and this proved to be quite a success. After a brief question and answer session, we introduced the Production Printing Part, through the PrintShop Mail Software. Multiple variable data workflows, containing over three kinds of advertisement samples, were printed on the new C1060L. The purpose of this demonstration was to show the huge benefit of using digital methods as compared to the traditional offset techniques. This variable data software allows us to print several different data (ex; different names, addresses, bar codes for promotional campaigns, gender etc…) at one go. On the other hand, with old offset methods, we were constrained with only one type of job at a time.

The exhibition served as a relaunch event for the Konica Minolta brand within the country. The event gave an overview and a general introductory perspective about Konica Minolta Office and Production Printing Systems. With regards to office hardware, there was an introduction to the latest Zeus line covering both the Zeus MLK and Zeus BK editions followed by an in-depth presentation of the PageScope Enterprise Suite software and a subsequent demonstration.

On the other hand, the Production Printing part consisted of the demonstration of the Variable Data application; PrintShop Mail, with regards to software. The event kicked off in the early morning, with an introduction to Konica Minolta, which was carried out by my colleague Mr. Mounir Meghraoui. After the necessary introductions were made, we passed on to presenting the hardware and software systems, which was presented by me.

I introduced the Office Range, starting with a short overview of the new Zeus hardware, both colour, and monochrome. Later on, I presented the Office Software. Since this was

Konica Minolta Digital Print Solutions Exhibition – Libreville, Gabon

This month we will be reviewing my business trip to Libreville, Gabon – where I visited our distributor, BS-Gabon, for the Konica Minolta Digital Print Solutions Exhibition, hosted at Le Meridien, Libreville, which took place on the 15th May.

If you look close enough, there really is no reason why digital printing should produce lesser quality than offset printing. Our new bizhub PRESS C1070 SERIES proves it: thanks to many innovations like the new toner technology SIMITRI HD E or the new registration system, it prints to perfection. And still with the benefits of digital printing: quick, efficient and easy handling and instant output.

Draka Cable ESI and of course Konica Minolta. One of the great things about working in sales, is the continuous variety of meeting and working with different people from all cultures around the world.

Was there a person in your career who really made a difference?

Yes, there are many people but this person in particular partly shaped me in to what I am today, Mr. Andy Culhane, he was my Sales Manager at Stanley Tools Europe.

Can you describe a typical day or week in your position?

There never seems to be a single day the same, but in general supporting

Could you tell me a bit about yourself?

I am coming up to 49 years “young”, I’m married to my beautiful wife Karen and we have 2 lovely children Daniel - aged 14 and Alexandra - aged 7 but “going on 27”. I strive to be the best at everything I do, which is not always easy... I do try to be as transparent as possible and where ever possible, it makes life so much easier and as everyone who knows me knows, I am a very straight talking guy.

What is your background?

I have been in sales and sales management most of my working career, working for Blue Chip companies like Stanley Tools Europe,

my distributors and assisting them to move their business forward, continuously helping them to battle against our competitors in this competitive market. Monitoring and reviewing my regional sales overview and looking for ways forward.

What is your personal mission statement?

One of my favourite mission statements is KEPT, in which I try to endear to in my career and my private life, which means:

• Knowledgeable • Efficient• Personalized• Trustworthy

Lets meet Paul Tihn - Konica Minolta Business Support Manager for East Africa. Loves to travel and talk, never a dull moment when Paul is around. But what does his life as a Business Support Manager looks like? Lets find out...

Pauline Galea - Assistant to the Head of Malta Office.

What are you most proud off?

My wife and my two children.

What do you like to do most in your spare time?

Spending time with my family of course. But playing golf, snooker or football are also on my list. And of course travelling. I love to travel and thanks to my position here at Konica Minolta, I get to see a lot of the world and the inside of aeroplanes!

What are your lifelong dreams?

Well, I think we all have many dreams and we try our best to achieve them all. But if I could have one, it would be to see as much of the world as

possible before my time is up.

Tell me one thing about yourself you wouldn’t want me to know...

My nickname is Hooch. It’s a long story, but in brief I was responsible for launching an alcohol pop called “Hooch” into Malta in 1996 and that name still sticks with me until this day. Next time we will meet I will tell you the long version...

There’s no right or wrong answer, but if you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be?

I think for me, Malta is the perfect place to be, great weather most of the year, beautiful sea and sandy

beaches. A nice and enjoyable life style all year round really.

What is the last book you read?

The Apprentice - by Sir Alan Sugar.

What is the best movie you have seen in the last year?

Grown-Ups 2. A brilliant comedy about of group of middle aged friends, who stick together through good and bad times. I could sort of identify with this story ;)

What would you do if you won the lottery?

A round the world cruise…TWICE just to make sure the first cruise was not a dream.

Ofcourse you know version 1.0 of this whitepaper already – we distributed it beginning of January. In comparison to version 1.0 we have updated the whitepaper with regards to future enterprise trends with the support/input of the BIC (see page 21 and the following).

Konica Minolta Whitepaper: The Evolution of our Industry – Anticipated Market Developments

Unfortunately, we learned in the course of the last months, version1.0 was still not distributed well enough. The whitepaper has been created out of the NOCs and Sales/GMA demands and I would therefore once again encourage you to please make use of this is a tool to prove that Konica Minolta is the right partner of choice for a long-term business relationship.

Additionally, it also emphasizes Konica Minolta´s thought leadership in Office and PP business alike as well as shows that Konica Minolta has what it takes to be a leading services provider.

How to use?

This Whitepaper is intended as a guide for senior decision makers to summarise current trends in the office IT industry as well as the production printing market. It should serve as an orientation in an ever faster changing world and should provide helpful information with regards to the buzzwords heavily used in the industry. Konica Minolta wants to provide an assessment and comprehensive summary of all the challenges in the industry affecting a company´s ICT strategy and planning as well as to show the solutions Konica Minolta has to offer for the respective challenge.

To provide this, the paper takes a look at different market studies conducted by global market intelligence companies such as IDC, InfoTrends, Gartner, Photizo Group and Quocirca, as well as our own intelligence (BIC) and outlines the general trends and conclusions Konica Minolta draws from this.

Should you wish to receive a copy of this particular Konica Minolta Whitepaper, then please send an email to: camea_

[email protected] and put whitepaper in the subject line.

CAMEA OPS LaunchPart 2 - OPS Consult Training

In the previous issue of CAMEA Connect I had informed you about the launch of the OPS Project, which took the form of an introductory session as well as training on the ‘technical’ part of the project which involved the software PrintFleet.

more concentrated on practice and actual carrying out of the Consult stage by using the tools available in the market. For this part of the training, we invited a specialist over from a Konica Minolta partner company, PerformIT – Mr. Daniel Huber. PerformIT is the company that manufactures the software tool used in this part of the OPS Process called Vendor. Vendor is that software tool which is used by the OPS consultant to import floor plan data to effectively manage and propose where new installations can be set up – floor plan data that was gathered during the initial step with the use of PrintFleet and the DCA (Data Collection Agent). Vendor is also used as a database where you can view previous projects and also create new ones.

Next step will be the actual roll out of the project. Various Market Events will be held in the participating distributors’ countries and an official launch of the OPS Service within CAMEA will then take effect – so stay tuned for further news and updates, this is going to be a big one!

Earlier this month, we held the second part of the project launch which finalized the initiation stage – OPS Consult. The training was, for the second time, held at our European Headquarters in Langenhagen from the 6th to the 8th of May. This time, participants were coming from within the Sales Department area, since this part is concerned with the ongoing management of the project. This person will ultimately also have the responsibility for the sales contact with the client as well as putting together the Optimization Proposal to show the (cost) advantages of the proposed setup against the current situation.

The training was split into two parts over the three days. The first part was directed by my friend and colleague Mr Dirk Wetzel (MFP

Consult). In the first part, Mr Wetzel started by re-introducing the 3 pillars of OPS – Consult, Implement and Manage. His focus slowly narrowed down on the Consult pillar, which was the main purpose of this training, by explaining the Sales and Consulting techniques used during OPS Business, and by presenting various sales theories and customer approaches.

The second and third days were
