With International Day of People With a Disability looming, I'd like to share the

song which is currently being used for assembly. A few months ago, I happened upon this catchy tune which seemed to grab my attention often. It's by a band called X Ambassadors and the song is called Renegades. X Ambassadors consists of four band members: Sam Harris, Casey Harris, Noah Feldshuh and Adam Levin. Sam Harris and Casey Harris are brothers, and Casey Harris has been blind since birth. Casey is the keyboard player. The music video was shot in the band's hometown and depicts several people with disabilities working to overcome their challenges. It has a personal aspect to it, since Casey Harris has been blind since birth. If you would like to listen to and see the clip, the YouTube address is http://youtu.be/1u-niluB8HI Mrs Stewart SCHOOL CAPTAINS, SPORT CAPTAINS AND YEAR 6 FUN PHOTOS A reminder that if you would like to make an order for a School Captains, Sports Captains or a Year 6 ‘Fun’ photo, please make sure you do so by this Thursday.

KP MEASUREMENT - MASS Last week the students in KP learned that the mass of an object can be measured by hefting and/or using an equal arm balance. The students tested the weights of two objects by lifting and balancing them and comparing the weights in each hand. This was called hefting. The students also predicted which classroom object would be heavier and then placed it on a two pan balance and observed which side was lower. They discovered that the pan that was higher held the lightest weight and the pan that was lower held the heavier weight. The children also used a program called Rainforest maths on the interactive whiteboard to predict the heavier and lighter objects on a two pan balance.
