ISPO Munich 2015, Messe München, Germany, 5‐8th February 2015  

ISPO is one of the leading international outdoor and sports trade shows.  

 

It has been reported that close to 80,000 visiting professionals from more than 100 countries came 

to ISPO MUNICH from February 5 to 8; this further proves the exhibition’s high popularity1.  

The target audience was primarily for athletes or sportsmen with the aim of improving performance 

during sports or improving the recovery period for rehabilitation, however, there were many types of 

technology which were presented at ISPO that could also be applied into an elderly market, see 

examples below. 

 

Wearable Life Science (WLS) ‐ Antelope Suit 

Antelope® innovation incorporates seamless textile electrodes (ABP‐System®) into compression 

garments. The garment promotes natural muscle contraction by using electrical impulses. The suit is 

controlled by an app (either smartphone or tablet). The garment can be integrated into any sporting 

activity. 

The product has been designed to enhance strength, endurance, coordination and speed suitable for 

regeneration after sports and competitions or for rehabilitation purposes after injuries. 

The garment is constructed from a blend of fibres which provide breathability and antibacterial 

properties that are washable. The garment can stretch in multi directions in order to conform to the

wearer’s personal body shape. The use of compression fabric ensures that the electrodes are always 

in contact with skin in the correct positions. The electrodes are produced from a special yarn with 

silver woven‐in.

Rehband 

Rehband is a Scandinavian brand which has a range of products which include: braces and support, 

protection, functional clothing and insoles.  

Rehbrand’s target audience is athletes with products which enhance performance or relieve pain.  

From fall 2014 the previous Rehband Medical range will be re‐branded as Ottobock. This change is an 

important step in Ottobocks overall portfolio strategy, to clarify the brands for the consumer 

products (Rehband) and the medical orthoses (Ottobock) in a whole new way.

Following the idea of Dr. Kenzo Kase, comes a completely new method of taping in Germany using a 

coloured and very elastic material. This technique does not rely on mechanical stabilization of joints
