Is God Real?An ECK parable

A man and his wife were friends with two HigherInitiates in ECK. Although they were close friends, theman always thought that the ECKists were making up thethings they said about the Light and Sound of God.

The man’s wife contracted a terminal illness. Shebecame weaker and weaker. One night she was lying in herbed at home, and her husband was holding her hand. He feltthe life force leave her, and he knew she had translated. Butthen the life force returned.

She opened her eyes and said to him,

She lived a short time longer then finally translated.After her death the man began to feel her presence througha feeling of love that hovered nearby. It was as if she hadcome into this life in part to teach him something about theLight and Sound of God.

Before her death, the man hadn’t understood that whenwe speak of the Light and Sound, we mean a very real,actual experience. We may see the Blue Light, a whitelight, or sparkling blue lights during contemplation. Thelight indicates the presence of the Mahanta. It’s living proofof his statement “I am always with you.”

The Sound can be like the high humming of a genera-tor, the noise of a blender in the kitchen, a bird singing offin the distance, or a f lute being played in the same room.These are very real sounds. This is the music of God.

Each time the Light or Sound comes to you, you arelifted in spiritual consciousness.

And as she spoke, he was able to perceive what she hadexperienced about the living truth, the Light of God in theother worlds.

“I have been to a place of light, of such love, whereI had perceptions that I have never known before.” What can the Light and Sound be like?

Inner MusicAn ECK parable

It took her three months tofind Eckankar. She went to anintroductory lecture one night. Assoon as she walked into the room,she knew these were the peopleshe belonged with. This was theteaching that she had contactedinwardly through the music somany years before.

stated the doctor. The woman didn’treally want to stop hearing the beauti-ful music, so when the doctor hypno-tized her, she faked it. She pretendedshe was hypnotized just to get throughthe session. Later, she wondered if thepriest and the doctor really understood.The music seemed to heal her.

Years passed, and in 1969the woman found herself in abookstore. There was a copy ofPaul Twitchell’s biography, InMy Soul I Am Free. As she readit, she discovered that therewere explanations for whatshe’d been hearing—it was theLight and Sound of God. Laterthat week she ran across an-other book, The Tiger’s Fang,which is the story of PaulTwitchell’s journey into the otherworlds. From this point on, she beganto feel there was a teaching out here for her.

“You need hypnosis to get to the bottom of this,”

Someyears agoa woman beganhearing inner music.

She didn’t know what to make of it, soshe went to her priest.

“Artists hear such things,”said the priest, dismissing her concern.“If you’re worried, you might want

to go to a doctor.”

She found a doctor and told him about the music.

“Thisbeautiful music

keeps playing in my head,and I feel really good

when I hear it.But I just don’t know

what it is.”

All these different shades and shapes are of the Light andSound of God, which are the two aspects of the Holy Spirit.

A story in Reader’s Digest called “Night ofthe Bells” was written by a woman who lived ona ranch in South Dakota. The story took place inMarch, still a very wintry season there. Thewoman had lost her husband a short time before.

This story took place on a ranch inSouth Dakota in late winter.

So she got up and went out on the deck.

One night she woke from a dream at 1:00 a.m.,and the sky was light. She wondered, Is it dawn?

The northern lights were f looding the sky inwaves of white and blue. The deck had frost on it,so she went back inside and put on her sheepskinmoccasins that her husband had made for her. Thenshe went back outside.

There was less color in the sky than a few min-utes before, and she wondered if the show was over.But then the colors grew stronger—reds, greens,and blues. As she stood there and watched thebreathtaking display, she realized this was a sacredmoment. So she walked up to a nearby hill whereshe could better see the northern lights. She hadoften visited that hill since her husband’s death.

The woman sat there in her robe and sheep-skin moccasins, in the middle of the winter’snight. The light show was stronger and morebeautiful than before. And then she began to hear,very quietly at first, the sound of tinkling bells.

The bells became stronger when the greenlights glowed, and then they faded away as thelights left the sky. At first the woman thought thebells were glass wind chimes tinkling in thebreeze, but she realized there was no wind thatnight. She remembered that Arctic travelers whohad seen the northern lights would also remarkon a sound that came when the lights werestrong. What is this sound? she wondered.

The woman ended her story saying that noneof the scientists she talked to could identify thesound she had heard that night. She concludedthat some things are meant to be mysterious. Butwhat she didn’t understand was that she washearing the Voice of God.

The Voice of God comes to people as Soundand Light. When a person is at a certain level inthe inner planes, the Sound comes in a certainway. On the Causal Plane, when you are remem-bering the past, the Sound comes as the tinklingof bells. The woman was missing her husband,remembering the past. At that moment on thatvery silent night, she was on the Causal Plane,the world where the seed of all karma, all causeand effect, is stored.

What is this sound? she wondered.

A Sound of GodAn ECK parable

A man who had just received his Fourth Initiation wassitting at his desk in his office. He was trying to study someinventory reports but, at the same time, his mind was on theinitiation he had just received. All of a sudden, he heard abuzzing sound. It sounded like a buzzing f ly. He raised his

head and looked around theoffice. Because he was agentle-hearted Soul, hethought that if he could findit, he would help it to go out-side. He looked but hecouldn’t see it.

He rose to his feet andlooked about for the fly,listening to feel his way towhere the f ly was buzzing. Itwasn’t in his desk. It seemedoff to the left, and so he wenttoward the file cabinet. Be-lieving it was in there, heopened a drawer. He wasthinking that the fly wouldfly out and then he wouldcatch it and carry it outside,but it wasn’t in there. Heopened the second drawer but

it wasn’t in there, and then thethird and it wasn’t in thereeither. Finally, he put his ear tothe file cabinet and decided thatit sounded like the buzzing wascoming from the fourth drawer.He opened that drawer, but itwasn’t in there either.

Somehow, he thought, thef ly must have gotten back intoone of the other drawers again.He opened them all. He waitedand waited. The buzzing con-tinued. He was really puzzled.

All of a sudden another person walked into the office,and, just that fast, the buzzing stopped. He was real quiet anddidn’t say much to the person.

Later, he looked up the God Worlds chart in The SpiritualNotebook. There it explained that the sound of buzzing camefrom the Etheric Plane, which is the height of the MentalPlane, or the Fourth Initiation. He understood the connec-tion, that it was the Voice of God coming to him in one of themany sound forms It takes.

The Sound can come as thunder or as a f lute. It may alsocome in many other forms, like the chirping of sparrows. It isthe sound of the atoms of God moving in the high worlds.When you hear a sound at a particular place or of a particularkind, it means that in Soul Consciousness you are there. Hewas at the Etheric Plane, and it meant that Spirit was purify-ing him in a state of being on that plane. It was uplifting himin consciousness, although he didn’t recognize it at the time.

A European ECKist was debating whether or not toattend an ECK meeting in Geneva. Not knowing that theLiving ECK Master would be attending, he reluctantlydecided to stay home.

The morning of the meeting, he noticed his two-year-old son playing on the f loor with a telephone. Jokingly heasked his son,

Immediately the man changed his plans and bought atrain ticket to the Geneva meeting. He was very grateful to hisson for having passed on the message. Harji is an affectionatenickname for Sri Harold Klemp, the Living ECK Master.
