hdian Standard SPECIFICATION FOR FLEXIBLE COAXIAL
RADIO FREQUENCY CABLES WITH CHARACTERISTIC IMPEDANCE 50 n
PART II CABLE TYPE 50-3-2
0. FOREWORD
0.1 This Indian Standard ( Part II) was adopted by the Indian Standards Institution on 27 August 1970, after the draft finalized by the Cables, Wires and Waveguides for Telecommunication Equipment Sectional Committee had been approved by the Electrotechnical Division Council.
0.2 This standard deals with flexible coaxial RF cables with solid polyethylene dielectric and having a cl1aracteristi.c impedance of 50 R.
0.3 Assistance has been derived from the corresponding specification 50-3-3/50-3-4of IEC Publication 96-2 (1961) ‘ Radio-frequency cables: Part 2 Relevant cable specifications’ issued by the International Electrotechnical Cqmmission.
0.4 The diameters for the plain high conductivity annealed copper wire for inner and outer conductors have been chosen from the table of dia- meters of round conductors in IS : 4800 (Part I )-1968*.
0.5 ‘Indian Standard specification for radio frequency cables: Part I General requirements and tests ’ [ IS : 5026 I Part I )-1969 1 is a necessary adjunct to this standard.
0.6 For the purpose of deciding whether a particular requirement of this standard is complied with, the final value, observed or calculated, express. ing the result of a test, shall be rounded off in accordance with IS :2-1960-t. The number of significant places retained in the rounded off value should be the same as that of the specified value in this standard.
1. SCOPE
1.1 This standard (Part II) specifies the dimensions, constructional details and the requirements for the RF flexible coaxial cables having type designation 50-3-2.
*Specification for enamelled round winding wires: Part I Conductor data. tRulca for rounding off numerical values ( r&sad ).
IS:5801 (Part II)-1970
. 2. TYPE DESIGNATION
2.1 The cables covered by this standard are designated as 50-3-2 in accordance with 5.1 of IS : 5026 (Part I)-1969*.
3. CONSTRUCTION AND DIMJXNSIONS
3.1 The cable shall consist of a single inner conductor of plain annealed and high conductivity electrolytic copper, the dielectric consisting of solid polyethylene extruded over the conductor. Over the dielectric, a single braid of plain annealed copper wire shall be applied and the cable shall be finished overall with non-contaminating sheath of suitably compounded PVC black in colour ( see Fig. 1 ).
Nominal A = 2.95 mm
