Welcome from IOSH South Wales branch
On behalf of the South Wales Branch Committee, welcome to our programme.
We enjoyed another successful season in 2017–18 and we sincerely hope that you find the forthcoming year as fulfilling. We have some new committee members and many have stepped into new roles. I would particularly like to welcome our new secretary, the mainstay of any organisation.
Our comprehensive and varied programme covers a wide range of topics, all chosen from the comments forms members complete after every meeting. Please keep filling them in!
Meetings are free to attend, unless otherwise stated. Before travelling long distances, we urge you to look at the IOSH South Wales microsite (www.iosh.co.uk/southwalesbranch) to check if there have been any last-minute changes.
If you are a new or potential member, please speak to any of the committee at a meeting. We all wear clear IOSH badges. If we can help advance your membership grade with advice or support, then of course we will. There is usually a buffet, so plenty of networking opportunities. If you are unable to attend a particular meeting, you should find the presentation on our website.

South Wales Safety Groups Alliance
Strategic aimAn alliance was formed between the Wales Branch IIRSM, IOSH South Wales Branch, South Wales Construction Safety Group, Cardiff and South East Wales Occupational Health and Safety Group and South and West Wales Occupational Safety Group in 2016. The strategic aim of this alliance is to improve the health, safety and wellbeing of all employees and others in South Wales. A holistic approach will be taken.
This will be achieved by organising low-cost or free conferences, seminars, meetings and courses for members. Officers of the groups will meet at regular intervals to organise events, discuss other projects and to report on progress.
The Alliance will also initiate partnerships with appropriate bodies such as the HSE, local authorities, fire services, the Welsh Assembly Government and the National Health Service.
An exciting and very successful conference and exhibition is held every April. The venue alternates between Cardiff and Swansea.
The second initiative of the Safety Groups Alliance is the publication of this joint calendar. Members of each of the participating groups are welcome to attend meetings of the respective groups (unless where stated).
