Welcome to worship!
Good morning and welcome to worship on
this new day we have been given. All of us
come into God’s presence today with
concerns and thanksgivings from last week.
It is here where we can take a break from
technology, the tasks we have yet to do and
other concerns in order to seize the peace, comfort and joy that is found in God.
Blessings to you this morning and may this time of worship strengthen your faith
and relationship with God!
Annual Meeting: Thank You!
Thank you to those who attended
our annual meeting last Sunday!
It was great that 107 people were
present and interested in the ini-
tial ministry plans for 2020 while
approving our Ministry Budget.
Information was shared regard-
ing our next building improve-
ment project which will be replacing the air-conditioning units in
the Worship Center and Penrose Hall. We elected the following
nominees as new Church Council members: Sasha Banks, Erwin
Nesvacil, Mona Lisa Noble, Al Pangle and Barb Schneider.

([email protected]) coordinator Deb
Nickeson to let her know to include you

filled with good food, fun & fellowship.
Shrove Tuesday: Mardi Gras!
To begin our season of Lent in proper fashion, we are gathering for a Shrove Tuesday pan-
cake dinner on Tuesday, February 25th from 5:30pm-7:00pm in Theisz Hall. Shrove Tuesday
(also known as “Mardi Gras”-French for “Fat Tuesday”) is the final day of abundant eating
before the beginning of Lent. In addition, shrove comes from the word “shrive” meaning
“absolve” which sets it aside as a day of self-examination before the holy season of Lent.
Tickets for this event are $7 and $5/children (12 years old and younger) and will
be available in the lobby beginning on Sunday, February 9th. All proceeds will go towards our National Youth
Gathering fund. Mark your calendars and come be a part of a festive evening!

Blessing of Deacons
On Sunday, February 16th, we will have a “Blessing of Deacons” during both
worship gatherings as we recognize their leadership and show our
congregational support for their ministry. Under the constituting document of the
ELCA: “Through their common calling and theological training, deacons,
exercising their teaching responsibility, would assist the pastoral ministry in
underpinning the particular ministries of their calling to the ministry of Word
and Sacrament.” We are blessed to have the following individuals as synodical
deacons at Apostles: Ron Beisecker, John Hanson, Coleman Hill, Liz Jimenez,
Joel Rentz, Bert Seibert and Judy Valleri.
Getting Together for Lent Dinners
People gathering for uplifting conversation and to share
in a meal of tasty soups, breads and desert is an
wonderful tradition here at Apostles! That tradition
continues when Lent begins on Ash Wednesday,
February 26th. Dinner will be served from 5:45pm-6:25pm with worship being
from 6:30pm-7:15pm (6:30pm-7:00pm on following Wednesdays). The success of
these gatherings is dependent on people who prepare a crock pot of soup to be
served on a designated Wednesday. A sign-up sheet is in the lobby for those who
are willing to provide soup and Liz Jimenez, office administrator, will follow-up
with you. These are wonderful gatherings that many look forward to so please
consider providing soup for a Wednesday evening. Thank you!
National Youth Gathering 2021
The ELCA National Youth Gathering in 2021 will be from June
29th-July 3rd in Minneapolis, MN. This is the first time the
gathering has been in Minneapolis…in the “land of 10,000 lakes,
more shoreline than California and nearly 700,000 Lutherans” as
stated by Bishop Ann Svennungsen of the Minneapolis Synod.
The average cost per youth gathering participant is $1200
(registration, flight, hotel, food). Our congregation supported 11 youth and 5 chaperones in attending the Youth
Gathering in Houston in 2018 which was wonderful. Now we look ahead to sending a group to Minneapolis!
Photo Session Registration Open
Registration for photo sessions is now open via the specific link on our website. Lifetouch
Photography will be in Theisz Hall on Saturday, February 29th from 12:00pm-7:00pm for
persons/families who: 1) joined our congregation since 2018, 2) were not included in our
previous directory and 3) would like a current photo included in our new directory. Those
who are photographed will meet briefly with the photographer to choose their photo. There
is no obligation to buy prints though you will receive a free 8x10 and a copy of the updated directory.
Please consider being a part of our new photo directory!
