This investment will allow us to increase our UK market share by focussing on key areas of growth:
What we’ll do with the money
Television
Further development of a multi-platform show that will be distributed and streamed internationally. The online TV show is secured and now we are in negotiations with a major international media distributor regarding development and terrestrial and international distribution.
National Expansion
Dramatically increase expansion of our network of agents and partners.
AcquisitionsStrategically acquire or merge with up to six other crowdfunding platforms as the market develops and consolidates.
All of these areas we have piloted and proved will deliver growth. In the short term we already have a backlog of £4.2m worth of projects that we are helping to get live, this is growing by a further £500k+ a week, but we need more capacity to unlock that backlog and associated revenues. Our business plan reflects the resources needed to achieve that delivery.
The success of our Fish Fight, Landshare, and Chicken Out campaigns have shown that solutions and impetus often come from grass roots collective action, and have the power to effect more remarkable change than we really ever imagined. Crowdfunder builds on that momentum and gives people the means to take their ideas forward. We want it to be a fantastic tool for entrepreneurs and idealists who capture the popular imagination.
Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, campaigner, broadcaster, director of KEO Films and founding partner of Crowdfunder.

We validate ideas and unlock fundingCase studyManchester Veg
As a potential match-funder it gives us great confidence to see a project gain support and raise funds from their community.
Manchester Veg People received match funding of 40% from the EU, so a £16,000 fundraise turned into £22,000 of funding. Not only that, over 300 people got together to show their support and ensure they can enjoy local seasonal produce grown in a sustainable way.

A niche market perhaps? When inventor and motor enthusiast Tom Fetherstone found a problem with his car headlights that could only be resolved at a cost of £1200 he came up with a solution. A solution that cost less than £150 – when he discovered this was a common fault he thought he may have a business.
Within a week Tom reached his crowdfunding target of £8000. Pre-selling over 100 headlight covers
enabled Tom to go into production. He has a full order book and has validated his idea. Tom can
now look at other sources of finance to take his business to another level.

We are the future of charity fundraisingCase studyThe Christmas Dinner
Author and poet Lemn Sissay MBE turned to the crowd to ask for help to raise funds for The Christmas Dinner Project, with the aim to provide 40 care-leavers the best Christmas Dinner ever!
Over 200 people donated £9500 towards the project and enjoyed rewards of thank-you cards from those who received the dinner, through to poetry written by Lemn. Businesses also got involved offering rewards in return for pledges of support to the project, this is great marketing and much cheaper than donating cash.
