MAE 9510 – Soot Formation
Due to the importance of soot formation on engines and the fulfillment of the emission laws, this work has the objective to introduce the mechanism of soot formation and its opposed product NOx. They are usually formed in opposed conditions, when the formation of one is higher; the other’s is smaller. For this reason, an understanding of their formation mechanisms is important for combustion engineers and researchers who aim to design Diesel engines and new solutions of emissions reduction. The references for this work are technical papers, most of them based on Diesel combustion.
