INTRODUCING MERION

A new yarn from Debbie Bliss with a sumptuous collection

designed by Debbie Bliss and Harriet Hill.

“A perfect yarn for snuggling into knits that knit up quickly

and easily on 8mm needles. Merion works wonderfully for

both colourwork and to show off stitch detail.”

“I’m delighted to be sharing Merion with you,

my latest yarn and design collection.

When I first saw this yarn at the Pitti Filati fair in Florence,

I immediately fell in love with it. Deliciously soft and bouncy,

Merion is a roving type yarn that knits up to produce chunky

knits that are perfect for Autumn/Winter.

I also loved the opportunity to collaborate on the collection

with Harriet Hill, the hugely talented designer I work with

at LoveCrafts.”

THE NAME

When choosing the name I thought of my wonderful

colleague Merion Willis, a fabulous knitter, wordsmith and

all round crafter who is my co-conspirator at LoveCrafts.

You’ll often find us knitting and nattering on

Facebook Lives and online workshops.

THE COLOURS

The palette I choose for a new yarn is always informed by

the yarn itself.

While swatching the yarn my thoughts turned to warm

autumn pastels with the addition of misty greys, lilacs,

leafy greens and gold.

THE DESIGN

Harriet and I couldn’t wait to get our hands on Merion and

start swatching! It’s softness and bulk lends itself to simple

texture and shapes.

So many of the knits are suitable for beginners or those

wanting a quick and easy knit.

HATTIE DB329

“A super easy knit, worked from the back to the fronts with

no shoulder seams. This is in my favourite stitch, moss stitch.”

BEHIND THE SCENES

With the team who made it all possible.

STYLINGMia Pejcinovic

Mia, the stylist for this shoot, is someone I have worked with

for a long time. It’s always a collaborative, creative process.

As soon as I have sent Mia the palette, sketches and swatches

she will think about the location, the look of the clothes to go

with the knits and the style of the shoot.

“As soon as I saw the Merion designs and colour palette,

I was smitten. The soft shades, textures and weaves of this

new collection is just perfection. This collection proves that

you can have the best of both worlds - ultimate cosiness and

comfort that you will want to show off!

Merion seemed to me all about the luxury of these timeless

pieces. For styling the shoot, it seemed a natural move to

pair the knitwear with sumptuous silks and satins for the

ultimate in luxe lounging.“

Mia

PHOTOGRAPHYRita Platts

Rita is another regular part of the team. She always

instinctively knows the best shot to take and it is a joy to

look through the images afterwards.

“I felt so inspired shooting these gorgeous garments for

Debbie. The calm colours of the yarn worked so beautifully

with the location it was perfect.

Mia always gets it spot on with her styling. We also had a

perfect model and magical natural light streaming in that day.

When all the elements for a photo shoot come together so

well it makes my job very easy.“

Rita

MODELLINGVanessa

We all loved working with Vanessa, who is studying Social

Sciences at UCL. A curve model for IMM Model Agency,

Vanessa had never expected to model as she didn’t fit the

traditional size requirements.

But as the fashion industry wises up, we are starting to see a

better representation of size inclusivity, and more beautiful

bodies to celebrate.

This was Vanessa’s first shoot so we made sure she felt part

of the family. She adored wearing these knits.
