MUNIR DAR, Hockey Olympian of Pakistan
we arranged a live interview with an
Olympian “Mr. Munir Dar” in November 2009.
It was a great sitting when a person of
international fame was with us and who
transcended sport into heroism.
Achievements at a Glance
Mr. Munir Dar has presented the sports as a tool, to convey the new generations of his country to be determined about their passions.
The family has earned a unique honour to have three gold medal Champions. Munir Dar was the member of the 1960 team ,his brother Tanvir Dar was in the 1968 squad and Munir’s son Taqueer Dar won the most coveted title in the hockey in 1984. All the Dar’s played at full-back position and excelled at penalty corner hits.
Q: At time Pakistan was at the top and what are the reasons of the down fall of the hockey now?Ans: The downfall of the hockey was due to the change in the rules of the game at the international level.Second major reason was the game did not carry proper funding and projection.
