Application Calendar and Deadlines Our academic calendar includes two 16-week semesters, as well as one 8-week summer session.

Application Checklist

□ International Student Application. Student applicant must be at least 17 years old. It must be signed and dated by the student applicant.

□ Official English-translated diploma or certificate to show proof of successful completion of high school; or secondary exam certificate results. See a list of accepted high school equivalents: here.

□ Official bank letter or statement from the applicant’s or sponsor’s bank verifying at least $22,468 U.S. dollars (equivalent). Letter/statement must be written on official letterhead, including:

Note: If dependents will accompany you to the U.S. and will remain here while you study at the College of Lake County, you must document an additional US$5,500 for each dependent.

□ Transfer Students Only: F-1 status students who wish to transfer to CLC must also submit theInternational Student Transfer Form.pdf, copy of current I-20, copy of most recent I-94, and copyof F-1 visa.

NOTE: CLC accepts TOEFL OR IELTS scores as proof of language proficiency for placement in college level classes:

TOEFL: 71 or above – IBT, internet-based OR IELTS: 6.0 or above – Academic Format

Since we offer an English Language Instruction program, proof of English proficiency is not required. An English placement test is given at CLC once the applicant arrives to determine placement in the English Language Instruction program or college-level classes.

Orientation All new international students are required to attend the New International Student Orientation held the week before classes begin each semester. This two-day program includes important information about the college and community, health care, adjusting to the American culture and maintaining F-1 visa status.

Check-in AppointmentAs soon as incoming students receive their visa, they are required to schedule a check-in appiontment with the International Student Advisor. Please make sure to constantly check your e-mail for updates and important information coming from the College of Lake County.
