AEROMART MONTREAL

EVENT IN DETROIT

CONFERENCE IN SAO PAOLO

The first two stages of the Roadshow that AMDI organized with the Financial Times (FT) were held on May 28th and 30th in Shanghai and Mumbai, respectively.

More than 40 major companies interested in the Moroccan offer were present at each of these stages. They represented diverse sectors such as the automobile, chemical, agri-food, textile, and clothing industries.

Panels were organized for the occasion and led by the Financial Times representative in these countries, Mr. Abdelkadar Amar, Minister of Industry and Trade.

This AMDI-FT co-branding has the great advantage of mobilizing key decision-makers, given the persuasiveness of reference media such as the Financial Times in the business world. As part of the AMDI 2013 action plan, this operation will concern six other major cities: Milan, Sao Paolo, New York, Frankfurt, Seoul, and Tokyo.

Mr. Abdelkader AMARA, Minister of Industry, Commerce, and New Technologies, led the opening of the Moroccan pavilion at the “Aéromart Montreal” airshow in Canada on April 24th.

Morocco is actively involved in this event through AMDI, who runs a booth and organizes B2B meetings with foreign operators wishing to develop new growth sources in Morocco.

This year, this annual gathering of worldwide aviation equipment suppliers welcomed more than 400 exhibitors and 1,000 participants representing companies offering their sourcing services to aircraft manufacturers seeking to develop and diversify their supply chain.

In line with its business strategy of exploring American companies, particularly those in the automobile industry, last April AMDI organized a mission to Michigan and Detroit through its representative office in NYC. Its purpose was to meet automakers and suppliers in region.

The event took place in the form of B2B meetings, a conference organized by the Regional Chamber of Detroit, and a one-to-few reception organized by the American law firm Miller Canfield, during which the Morocco offer was presented.

As part of its promotional activities in target markets, on April 4th 2013 in Sao Paolo AMDI organized a conference on investment opportunities in Morocco in partnership with the Moroccan Embassy in Brazil, the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (CCAB), and the Federation of Government Industries in Sao Paolo (FIESP). This conference was themed “Morocco, a strategic partner for Brazil.”

This conference aimed to promote Morocco as a destination for Brazilian investment, develop partnerships with strategic customers such as the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (CCAB), and the Federation of Government Industries in Sao Paolo (FIESP), and present investment and partnership opportunities offered by Morocco to Brazilian businessmen in terms of being an export platform to Africa, Europe, Mediterranean countries, and the Americas.

AMDI participated in the meetings of the first session of the Mixed Morocco-Kuwaiti trade commission, held in Rabat from May 20th-21st 2013 and aimed at considering the ways and means to contribute to strengthening bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, and investment.

Both the understanding and protocol are in the industrial field and deal with foreign direct investment.

As such, the sector generates a turnover of around 8 mm mad annually and creates revenue for nearly 300,000 permanent workers and 100,000 seasonal workers.

DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY FOR 2020

The Green Morocco Plan recommends aggressive development in the dairy sector and aims for it to be a competitive industry by 2020. To this end, the government and the Moroccan Interprofessional Federation of Milk (FIMALAIT) have established a program contract (2010-2014) which constitutes the reference framework for developing and upgrading this sector.

This program focuses on developing productivity to meet international standards through the massive increase of production at competitive costs.

The aim is to produce three billion liters in 2013 and 4.5 billion liters of milk by 2020, for an overall investment of 22 mm MAD, or an annual growth of 15%. Thanks to this strategy, the market for dairy products in Morocco presents a considerable business opportunity.

The Nestlé factory in Morocco treats 73 billion liters of milk a year. The operator supervises 150 cooperatives representing more than 16,000 local farmers. Agricultural financing is spread out over three years and is part of the framework of a public-

private agreement with the Doukkala-Abda region aimed at a 50% increase in Moroccan milk production by 2020.

MOROCCAN OFFERThe Moroccan dairy system has proven itself on several levels: by tripling its production in 30 years, covering 90% of the national need, and having a positive social balance./bilan social positive

sector’s development is based on four strategic priority areas:

Deepening vertical integration upstream of existing aggregators;

Developing new projects downstream (IDE, JV, existing actors);

Creating a competitive growth plan upstream of the dairy industry in two complementary areas:

Improving the framework conditions of the sector

Financial assistance from the GovernmentAs part of its implementation of the Green Morocco Plan, the Government provides financial assistance to encourage private agricultural investments through the Agricultural Development Fund. A dedicated customer service center was created at each Provincial Directorate of Agriculture (DPA) and each regional Agricultural Development office (ORMVA) to help a single sales contact communicate with farmers. There are two types of financial aid:

Universal aid that addresses investors as individuals;Aid for aggregation projects (partnerships between production

upstream and sales/industry downstream).

Site locations The Green Morocco Plan also aims to improve the quantity and quality of the supply of agricultural raw material intended for processing. To this end, six agropoles designed for the agri-food sector will be created to strengthen the sector’s offer. The following agropoles are currently operational:
