CO-FOUNDER'S NOTE

Juliana Jernigan

Courage scares me a bit, I will admit it. But when our family was faced with death exactly 2 years ago it was courage that filled our hearts and asked us questions that hadthe words legacy, wholeness and nations in them. And by doing that, courage added form and shape to a dream that, we understood right then, was shared not only

between my husband and I, but with many others as well.

A dream that was formed along our journey, first as adventurous singles, then as global nomads moving from city to city on a mission to lend a hand and impact the world.40 years, 4 continents, 7 countries and 3 children later, what started as a stubborn mission to transform the world resulted in hearts transformed. Many, I'd like to believe.

But mostly ours - broken first, then mended together by the strongest glue of all, love itself.

Our hearts? They burn for those who are not afraid to cross cultures and transform nations while they are themselves transformed by love - equipped and healthy inmind, spirit and body.

So we gathered our courage, multicultural friends and traveling stories (and histories) and we asked ourselves the questions:If we could do it all again, how would we do it differently, better? Who would we like to have on our side? The answer?

We call it International Care.

To all our courageous friends who leave behind the familiar to venture out into brave new worlds, sometimes for days, sometimes for years, sometimes forever:International Care exists to empower you. This team wants to see you go farther, stronger and in good company.

- Boa viagem! -

"Courage is not simply one of the virtues, but the form of every virtue at the testing point."

Webster defines transition as "passage from onestate, stage, subject or place to another". Simplystated: change. All go through transition in life, but those witha highly mobile lifestyle know that when it comes tocontinual change - not just in geography, but also inrelationships and cultural frames of reference -continuous goodbyes and hellos are just a part of thepackage. David Pollock said it best:. navigating transitiondemands much from us. And how well we are able tomeet the challenges that come from it depend on ouremotional awareness and resilience, our willingnessto embrace new ways of doing things and opennessto new relationships. And a big ole dose of humble inour hearts.Because transition always brings loss. Loss ofrelationship, places, status. Loss of the familiar. Lossof confidence. And with these, allowing yourself to embrace thepain and grieve becomes critical to adapt well to newrealities. Remaining open to community can be thelast thing you want to do when you are tired of thepain of loosing relationships, right?By processing your emotions well you will be able tomaintain an open heart that can aim at remainingtender and teachable - two requirements to not onlysurvive crossing cultures, but to thrive while at it.

Crossing cultures requiresemotional awareness andresilience from us becauseit always brings loss.

We were that family-flying-on-a-budget. But prices never stoppedus from going anywhere. To provemy point, one of my kiddos favorite place in the world for awhile was... Wait for it... Airports.

During our many years as globalnomads, my husband and Iconsidered Raptim the best kepttravel secret in the world. Well,we knew it wasn't our secret tokeep, since we were surroundedby fellow non-profit colleagueswho shared very similar opinionsabout Raptim: they 'get us' andwere on our side - with big savingsto prove.

So, of course, when InternationalCare was being brewed we thoughtof no one better but Raptim to lockarms and serve you, our worldchanger client.

Why are they so wonderful? With over 66 years of experience inthe market, it is the largest globalhumanitarian full-service travelcompany (air, hotel, and groundtransportation worldwide).

And here is how they do it:incredible favor with 30 airlines in50 contracts for the exclusive useof our nonprofit clients.

Next time you fly on a mission, letus help you save. So you canspend on what you choose to.

Our partnership with Raptim rocksbecause it gives you:

- 10-30% Savings on RoundtripTickets (coach and business class) - Extra Baggage Allowances onsome carriers (that's right. Allmamas go ahead and do the happydance)

“International Care helped my family get back to the country we're working inand helped us find flights that gave us the amount of bags that we needed on

an airline that would be easier with our infant son and at a price we couldafford. I can't say how much I appreciate this organization. They easily savedus thousands of dollars. I highly recommend this wonderful group of people.”

EVACUATION MEMBERSHIPTO THE RESCUE!

It is not your job to think of the worst case scenario whengoing or sending a team overseas. But it is ours to have thetools to help you be prepared for it.

Some of our clients who have had 'team scares' in the pasthave shared their wish for an affordable way to haveevacuation services easily accessible.

They either had to deal with:

- The hardships of coordinating a medical rescue

operation in a foreign culture,

- Having to transfer a team member who had an

acute illness from one hospital to a better

equipped one, in a different country, or

- Managing to take the whole team out of a region

that suddenly became a high risk destinations for

political reasons.

We hope you never have to deal with the

challenges these situations - or others worse - can

bring. But if your team or destinations are subject

to a high risk rating either for medical or security

reasons, we have the right team to be there when

it counts.
