MYTH BUSTERS

Page 8: International Baccalaureate Student Presentation

Myth #1:“IB kids have

no (social) life”

Page 9: International Baccalaureate Student Presentation

Wrong…

Page 10: International Baccalaureate Student Presentation

Myth #2:“IB is only for the

super smart & brainiacs.”

Page 11: International Baccalaureate Student Presentation

Not even close…

IB kids are just like other students.

The IB Diploma Programmes at Stony Point and Westwood include a diverse

group of students.

Page 12: International Baccalaureate Student Presentation

Myth #3: “IB ruins your GPA and lowers your class rank”

Page 13: International Baccalaureate Student Presentation

IB students who are motivated, disciplined, and rise to the

challenge, can get in the top 10% or top 10 in their class.

IB courses are weighted, just like AP courses.

Page 14: International Baccalaureate Student Presentation

Myth #4:“IB is AP on steroids”

Page 15: International Baccalaureate Student Presentation

IB and AP are very different.

IB is more about the “why,” while AP is more about the “what.”

Page 16: International Baccalaureate Student Presentation

Myth #5:“IB isn’t recognized by ALL colleges, so it isn’t

worth it.”

Page 17: International Baccalaureate Student Presentation

Each college and university is different, and college credit will vary based on your scores and

their policies.

Research the colleges and universities you are planning on

attending.
